Cafe Hopping to the Sea: A Dreamy Johor Afternoon
#summervacay We eased into our final morning with the hotel breakfast buffet — a comforting routine by now. Depending on how early we got up (or didn’t), we caught the tail end of it before everything closed around 10.30am. Light bites, coffee, and one last round of toast and eggs before packing up.
By 12pm, we checked out of Hotel Granada and headed off to continue our food journey — because the trip’s not over till dessert.
At 12.30pm, we dropped by Soeurs Coffee, a minimalist café tucked away in a quiet spot that instantly felt like a soft escape. Their mochi cheesecake was a standout — creamy and light with that perfect chewy bite of mochi hidden in the center. We paired it with their signature Amulet Coffee, which came with a mini “amulet” charm — a cute detail that made the experience feel just a little more special.
At 2.30pm, we arrived at Baliban Braised Duck for something heartier. The duck was rich, tender, and beautifully braised — savoury, slightly herbal, and fall-off-the-bone good. It felt like a very local, soulful lunch, and honestly one of the more underrated meals of the trip.
Next was Paradigm Mall at 4pm — one last stop to walk off the meal, browse some shops, and cool down indoors. We made time for a drink at Beautea, known for their aesthetic drinks and floral vibes. A refreshing pause before our final destination.
And finally, at 6pm, we made our way to Marine Beach Bar by Danga Bay Country Garden just in time for sunset. With hues of soft pink, golden amber, and purple washing over the sky, it was the perfect place to unwind. The beach bar had laid-back vibes, a swing set overlooking the water, and the warm ocean breeze that made everything feel slow and cinematic. A gentle, beautiful close to our Johor escape — full of flavour, calm, and a little bit of magic.
