It was nice that there were many bakeries and convenience facilities around the university area. In addition, it was really emotional that I could see the Pantheon and the old town of Paris when I opened the window! It was about a 15-minute walk to the Luxembourg Gardens and Notre Dame, and a 5-minute walk to the Pantheon. The accommodation itself was a small size, no different from a regular studio, but the kitchen was very well-equipped and there was a table that was just right for 2 people, so it was comfortable. And the best part was that they had groceries for the guests in the cupboard! It was a great place to cook while staying :)

#europetrip The Panthéon in Paris was an incredible historical find that transported me into the depths of French history during my 2023 journey! • With an entrance fee of 12 euros, it was a small price to pay for the grandeur and stories held within. Upon stepping inside, the sheer magnificence of the interior left me in awe. The neo-classical architecture, the towering dome, and the majestic frescoes felt like a tribute to art and history. Being the final resting place for influential figures like Voltaire, Rousseau, and Marie Curie, the crypt below exuded a mix of solemnity and awe-inspiring reverence. The Foucault Pendulum at the center of the dome was a mesmerizing sight. Observing its swing, demonstrating the Earth's rotation, added a touch of scientific wonder to the experience. Though the climb to the top was a bit of a workout, the breathtaking view made it all worthwhile! The panoramic sight of Paris from the terrace was picture-perfect - the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and the Seine, all laid out like a masterpiece.

The Panthéon, also known as the Pantheon, is located in the Latin Quarter on the left bank of the Seine in central Paris. It was completed in 1791 and serves as a permanent memorial to notable figures in French history. After the July Revolution of 1830, the Panthéon took on the characteristics of 'pure patriotism and nationalism.' The Panthéon houses the remains of 72 individuals who made extraordinary contributions to France, including Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Marcellin Berthelot, Jean Jaurès, André Malraux, the Curies, and Alexandre Dumas, among whom only 11 were politicians. They silently receive the admiration of people from France and around the world here. The Panthéon is designed in the shape of a Greek cross, measuring 100 meters in length, 84 meters in width, and 83 meters in height. The portico of the temple can be accessed via the front steps. The portico is supported by 22 columns, each 19 meters high, which uphold the triangular pediment. In 1831, David d'Angers created the relief 'The Fatherland between Liberty and History' on this pediment. Below it is the famous inscription: 'To the great men, the grateful homeland.' The majestic dome covers the entire building. The Panthéon is an early example of neoclassical architecture, modeled after the Roman Pantheon. The interior is grand and magnificent, adorned with exquisite murals. The artistic decorations in the Panthéon are very beautiful, with large murals on the dome created by the famous painter Antoine-Jean Gros. In 1851, Léon Foucault hung a pendulum from the ceiling of the Panthéon to demonstrate the rotation of the Earth, a replica of which can still be seen today. The Panthéon, located on a high point in Paris, was used as a receiver for experiments on Eugène Ducretet's TSF. The cross on the Pantheon is also a fundamental point of the New French Triangulation (NTF).

#familytrips2024 I love Paris for its architecture. It was also the perfect weather to visit Paris in April when it was almost the end of winter and just nice for walking around the city. I got to see such amazing sights and almost every building has some form of historical significance. The Panthéon is no exception. #familytrips2024 This impressive Panthéon monument was build under the Louis XV - Louis XVI reign to offer Saint Genevieve the patron of Paris a larger church. An unmissable sight in Paris, because huge names were buried here in the basement, including e.g. Alexander Dumas, Victor Hugo, etc.. It was very impressive to see it in person ! #familytrips2024 We were walking pass this shop while we were visiting Patheon and decided to check it out as it seems like a store with interesting stuff. It is a very beautiful, bright and spacious space where you can find sought-after design objects and cutting-edge curiosities, for the home or to make gifts for the whole family, friends or yourself. Highlights: The Panthéon is an amazing architecture with great artwork in and out. There is a lot of interesting history to learn from this building. The views from the panoramic walk are well worth seeing as the surrounding area is also very beautiful. From the front of the monument, you are able to see the Eiffel tower in the distance.
