[2025 Sungai Petani Attraction] Travel Guide for Pantai Merdeka (Updated Apr)

A major attraction for beach-goers from Kedah and Mainland Penang and north Perak. Accommodation is available with the usual shops for can-do dishes and toys plus clothes and fruits. Good for fishing and a gateway for islands across: Pulau Bidan and Pulau Telor. A few miles away on land, you can reach Pulau Sayak. Wish the users and authorities can improve the cleanliness and attractions/buildings on the spot and surrounding areas. It's been here twice as my local friend always bring me here when i'm going to meet him. It's nice place with breezy wind, you can see a lot of children playing around and it's cleanliness is okay. It's a great place to have a chit chat with your friend here.

There’s no beach here where you can swim but it is a nice place if you want to have local cuisine. I am a laksa lover, tried the laksa at the first stall (yellow and green coloured stall). It was okay but a little sweet. I was a bit frustrated. But the ABC and Cendol was good. They have a “night market” style of stalls selling foods, scarves, fake jerseys and clothings. But what I wanted to highlight here is the beautiful paddy fields and scenery that u will experience along the way to Pantai Merdeka. Do not hesitate to stop by and have some quick snaps! Worth it! It's a nice place to getaway form all our busy life but need some help to clean up the place and a nice public amenities. They are plenty of food trucks on holiday or weekend. Pantai Merdeka located in Kedah.There is a boat you can rent to cross to Tanjung Dawai.It takes about 15 minutes.There is local stall you can eat here.ABC is a must here.Mee Udang also one of the signiture here.Food price a bit pricey.There is a chalet you can rent.Chalet just near the sea.Only walking distance to the sea.#sea View#staycation

Pantai Merdeka is a beautiful beach at the river mouth of the Sungai Merbok about 30km from Sungai Petani. It is a very popular beach and is usually crowded during the weekends and public holidays. Interesting place to visit with family members or friends. They have are “night market” styles of stall selling foods, scarves, blouses, fake jerseys and clothings. There are plenty of food trucks on holiday or weekend. You can take a boat ride to Tanjung Dawai across to find a local food product. It cost only RM3 each way. Parking is not a problem here as there is a vast area to park our vehicles. Don’t hesitate to come over here. The room is comfortable and spacious.. the smallest room has 1 queen and 1 single. So wide. Only here is the problem of network coverage. It's good x de line, it's just a family gathering. If you don't play on the phone. If you want to line, you can go to Merdeka Beach. X is far away While the room is clean and nice there are only kettle and two mugs are provided. Praying mat are provided but no towel. The kitchen outside need to rent to use the cooking gas. Address - Warung Kak Ma Tanjung Dawai, Kedah Ambiance/Facilities - Noodles, Fried Rice based on seafood Highlights - Mee Udang & Mee Ketam & Mee Tulang Avg. Price per Person - RM10 > RM20 Rating - 10/10 I highly recommend its mee udang (prawn noodles). U can enjoy a nice view by the beach & there's plenty of parking too. Mee Kuah Tulang was really fantastic and tasty.. I did order Nasi Goreng Udang and they serve taste like very delicious & tasty. If you are in Tanjung Dawai area and are looking for seafood during lunch hour, give this place a try. Their prawns are huge, the cooking is great.
