Hidden Beach in Penang Island 🇲🇾
#winhkflight
📍Pantai Esen, Penang
Discovered this hidden gem in Batu Maung area of Penang! It was a recent discovered beach at the Southern area of Penang island, thus this place is less touristy and developed compared to the beach at Batu Ferringhi. The hike to the beach was an easy one, with tar roads and took us about 20minutes time. Totally worth the little hike! Wearing slippers works too as it is more like a walk rather than a hike. The view was stunning and amazing! The beach is clean as well! Great place for sea watching, feel the sea breeze, chill and picnic sounds great too!
I wish to travel to Hong Kong for the food!

Pantai ESEN
#penangspots Pantai Esen in Batu Maung, Penang, is a hidden coastal retreat that offers a tranquil escape from the city’s bustle. Tucked behind lush greenery and accessible via a short nature trek, the beach reveals a wide stretch of sand framed by palm trees and rocky outcrops. While the waters may not be ideal for swimming due to muddy seabeds and visible mudflats at low tide, the area is perfect for picnics, sunset watching, and quiet reflection. Adventurous visitors can explore the surrounding terrain on ATVs, adding a thrill to the serene setting. Despite recent environmental concerns linked to nearby development projects, Pantai Esen retains a quiet charm that appeals to those seeking solitude and natural beauty away from the usual tourist paths

Pantai Esen, a secret beach in Penang🏝️🌊
Penang is considered one of the most chic tourist cities in Malaysia. It is a city full of diverse arts and cultures. It is a modern city with convenient public transportation, making it a livable and attractive city.
But in addition to sightseeing in the city for shopping, seeing street art or visiting various religious sites, Penang also has beautiful beaches.
Pantai Esen is another beautiful beach in Penang with a great atmosphere. This beach is about 2 hours from George Town. You can take a public bus to get there.
The beach is located next to the village. Walk a little into the village and you will find the beach. There are not many tourists here. Most of the people who go there are locals, so the atmosphere is quite peaceful and not crowded. It is very suitable for sitting and relaxing.
The day I went, I intended to just sit and watch the waves for a while and then go back because before that, I stopped by Queensbay Mall, which is not far away. But when I got there, I enjoyed sitting there from 4 pm until the sun set. I will tell you that the sunset is very beautiful. The orange color from the sunlight hitting the water surface made the orange light shimmer on the water surface very beautiful. Before I knew it, the sun had already set. So it was time for us to go back. To return, you can walk to wait for the bus on the main road. Sit all the way to George Town. Sleep very well 😂

Hidden Sands and Golden Skies: A Spring Evening at Pantai Esen
#springitinerary #PantaiEsen #MalaysiaHiddenBeach #CoastalVibes #BeachEscape #EveningBreeze #SunsetByTheSea #MalaysiaTravel #OffTheBeatenPath #PantaiSenja
This is part of my itinerary to Penang where I visited Pantai Esen — a quiet, lesser-known beach that offered peace, wide horizons, and an authentic local vibe. I arrived in the evening, just in time to catch the golden hour light washing over the calm sea and soft, sandy shore.
There were no crowds, no loud vendors — just a few locals fishing or strolling, and the soothing sound of waves. The setting sun turned the sky into warm streaks of orange and purple, making it a perfect place to unwind and reflect.
Pantai Esen felt untouched and natural, a spot that hasn’t been overdeveloped — ideal for slow travelers and sunset lovers.
Travel Tips:
• Best time to visit: Evening, especially around sunset for the best views and breeze.
• Bring your own snacks and drinks: Few or no stalls nearby.
• Pack light and casual: Sandals, a picnic mat, and a camera are all you need.
• Respect local customs: Especially if visiting near fishing areas or local villages.
• Great for: Quiet reflection, sunset photography, or a relaxing beach walk.
• Check tides and weather: Especially if planning to walk along the shore.
How to Get There:
• By car or motorbike: Most convenient way to access the beach; roads are usually straightforward.
• Use Google Maps or Waze: Look for “Pantai Esen” or nearby landmarks to guide you.
• By Grab (if available): Ensure there’s return transport, as it’s a quiet area.
• Combine with: Nearby coastal villages, seafood spots, or other small beach coves for a full day outing.

📍Pantai Esen
Permatang Damar Laut, 11960 Batu Maung, Penang
Went for a walk at Pantai Esen, Batu Maung! Lovely sceneries, breathtaking views! We were there early in the morning (around 7.30am), the sea views were tranquil and serene, not much crowd, it was peaceful and relaxing! Gotta prepare yourself to hike a little to reach the beach, around 20 to 30 minutes. There is also buggy rides that are available at the entrance so you don’t have to hike your way to the beach! It’s indeed a hidden gem in the Batu Maung area to have a nice beach like this! Besides, there are a few stalls selling bbq satay, coconut drinks in the evening, and they even have extreme sports like ATV rides available! Would love to revisit again during the evening!
In 2024? I wish to travel to Seoul, Korea!
