You could guess what kind of store it was just by looking at the pictures on the signs, so you could look around while guessing and talking with your friends! 👍🏻 Halstatt and St. Wolfgang are located near Salzburg. Both are glacial lakes, so the water was a very emerald color and sparkled in the sunlight!🌊 In particular, there was a family of swans living in Hallstatt! If you're lucky, you might be able to see a family of swans up close, so keep your eyes open and look for them!🦢 In the Mirabell Gardens, where the movie 'The Sound of Music' was filmed, it felt like I could actually hear the Do-Re-Mi song! It was a shame that the weather was cloudy, but it was still such a beautiful place! We finished our trip by crossing the bridge in Salzburg and heading to Hotel Sacher. The travel time between Salzburg and Hallstatt is about 2 to 2.5 hours one way by combining train and bus or just train. You can visit as a day trip from Salzburg, so it's highly recommended. The best season for sightseeing is said to be from May to October, but we visited in mid-December. With a light layer of snow, the snow-capped mountains towering behind the lake and buildings make the scenery of this town even more magnificent.

Most of the tourists have tried to cover Hallstatt in a day. In my opinion, it is very rush and not even enough to cover all the “must see” attractions in Hallstatt. Let alone, enjoying a cup of coffee and relax by the lakeside. Some tourists have done it in 2D1N, it is also barely enough imo. I’ve personally spent 3D2N there. I’ve covered most of the attractions including hiking and reading story book on the bench while seeping my coffee beside the lake. It is really therapeutic and relaxing. I am fully recharged after my trip to Hallstatt. I was also able to enjoy my dinners in Hallstatt, not many have a chance to do so since they are gone by early evening. Highly recommended to spend more time in Hallstatt!

There are many observatories in Hallstatt where you can see the lake and the huge mountain range, but I would like to recommend Aussichtspunkt Müllerstiege, which is located in front of Hallstatt Falls, because the view is beautiful. Just go up from the pier and climb the stairs for about 5 minutes. I visited in winter and it was so nice to be able to enjoy the cool snowy scenery. Be careful when you go to the observatory because the snow melts and turns into ice!!
