No long queue spotted here :) Royal Banquet Hall - Unique dining experience where you can meet Disney characters while having lunch. Day 2: Pre-book bullet train tickets and it was really easy checking in & out. Do set aside 1hr prior as there's luggage check at the train station and to find your way to the correct check in counter. Check in to Grand Hotel Hangzhou after arriving in Hangzhou. Westlake (西湖) Walk: Took a leisurely walk around the beautiful Westlake for 3 hours. Don’t forget to snap a few photos at Xihu Tiandi – with charming cafés and photo spots. Day 3: Explore Hangzhou Song Dynasty Town (宋城): Head to Song Dynasty Town for a cultural experience. You can experience costume & make-up, with photography too. Evening: Explore the Wulin Night Market – a vibrant, local market full of food, souvenirs, and lively atmosphere. Day 4: Train to Suzhou and check in at Pan Pacific Suzhou. Absolutely stunning palace-lookalike hotel. Humble Administrator’s Garden (苏州园林): Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site, one of the most famous classical gardens in China. Pingjiang Road: Take a stroll down this historic street, known for its old architecture and shops. Set aside 3hours for this as its really huge. Day 5: Tongli Ancient Town (同里古城): Explore this picturesque water town known for its canals and traditional architecture. Shiquan Street (十全街): Take a walk through this vibrant shopping street. Qian Street (观前街): A free area to wander through, offering plenty of shops and local food. Day 6: Check in to WOW Hotels in Shanghai & start exploring. Nanjing Road: A bustling street full of shops and restaurants. M&M World Shanghai & Popmart Flagship Store: For fun souvenirs and treats Board Huangpu River Cruise in the evening to enjoy stunning views of the Bund. Day 7: Start the day with a leisurely walk around The Bund to soak in the stunning views of the skyline. After that, head to Shanghai Old Street: Wander around this historic street, known for its traditional shops and restaurants. Day 8: Xintiandi: Explore this lively area known for its mix of modern and traditional architecture. Have brunch at one of their cafes to soak in the vibe. 📍 Itinerary Overview 🏖️ Must-Visit Attractions 1. 留园 lingering garden It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed classical gardens of Suzhou. The place is beautiful. Very nice place to take photos, there are many corridors, pavilions, halls etc to take very nice photos. Can wear cheongsam here to take photos, think it really match with the feel here. 2. 西园寺 xiyuan temple This place feels very peaceful. Not as many people as the other garden, there are many cats here too. The vegetarian noodle is yummy as well. There are yellow walls where you can take those instagramable photos too. 3. 平江路 pin jiang road Though many would say it is very commercialized, I still feel that it is worth coming. You can see the narrow road and stone bridge crisscross the waterways. There are many small shop selling souvenirs. And tea house where you can rest your legs and escape from the hot afternoon sun. Have some local tea and listen to the local traditional opera/music. Suzhou have their traditional opera performance called 苏州评弹 Suzhou pingtan. Worth a try but do take note that there are some that have hidden fees. 4. 七里山塘街 qili shantang street Night view is beautiful as lanterns are lighted. 🚇 Transportation Personally I feel that taking train is much more convenient as it comes on time and it is air conditioned. Traffic is a bit congested so the bus might be delayed, and waiting for the bus in hot weather is a torture. 🍜 Local Cuisine 1. 绿豆汤Mung bean soup Not your traditional kind, it is peppermint drink with mung beans and many other toppings. Those who hate it would say it tastes like toothpaste. But people who love it will find it so refreshing! 2. 生煎包 pan fried pork bun Had these everyday during my trip. My favorites would still be from 鑫震源 3. 素面 vegetarian noodle Specifically from 西园寺 xi yuan temple. 4. 苏式糖粥 Suzhou style sweet porridge It is typically made with glutinous rice in the form of porridge and pair with red bean soup. There are other variety where you can add mini rice ball. 5. 桂花糖藕 sweet osmanthus lotus roots It is a cold dish where they stuffed glutinous rice inside the lotus root and cook with sugar syrup flavored with osmanthus. 6. 鸡头米 gorgon seed I had it stir fried with celery and water chestnut. The texture of the gorgon seed is slightly chewy. I also saw that it can be added as toppings for some sweet dessert like in the sweet porridge. 7. 松子桂鱼 sweet and sour mandarin fish with pine nuts The mandarin fish was prepared and cut in a way that after it was being deep fried, it resemble a squirrel. It was served with sweet and sour sauce and topped with pine nuts. 🏠 Accommodation 1.Pan Pacific Suzhou There is a private access from the hotel to 盘门 pan men, a historic landmark in Suzhou. It is the only remaining land and water gate left in China (if I’m not wrong). Do spend some time here as it is quite big. There is a big Chinese garden with pavilions and canals. As our cab cruised along the tree-lined streets, we were captivated by the stunning architecture, feeling as if we had been transported back in time. Our accommodation, the Pan Pacific Suzhou, was a highlight of our visit. This remarkable hotel has been preserved for centuries and is directly connected to the heritage site Pan Men (盘门). Built during the period of the state of Wu, historians estimate it to be around 2,500 years old. The Pan Gate Scenic Area, where it is located, features the "Three Landmarks of Pan Gate" - Ruiguang Pagoda, the Wu Gate, and the Pan Gate itself. While Suzhou's daytime views are breathtaking, the nighttime scenery is nothing short of magical. When the lights come on, the place transforms into a scene straight out of a movie - with performances and street stalls. Within the scenic area, there is a café/bar that offers panoramic views of the lake during the day. The barista recommended visiting again at night when it transforms into a lively bar with unblocked performances. Taking his advice, we returned in the evening and were not disappointed. The night views and the vibrant atmosphere were unforgettable. The day and night views offered contrasting yet equally captivating experiences, making Pan Men a memorable and mesmerising first stop. We left with a deep appreciation for this city's timeless charm and a desire to return someday.

Pan Pacific Suzhou Hotel Excellent location 📍 I just returned from Suzhou, and I'm absolutely satisfied with this hotel! Pan Pacific Suzhou Hotel is located right in the city center, making transportation incredibly convenient. Just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, you can reach Guanqian Street, which is a food paradise with various delicacies like Songhe Lou's Suzhou cuisine, Caizhizhai's candies and pastries, and all kinds of snacks. Plus, famous attractions like the Humble Administrator's Garden and Lion Grove Garden are very accessible—just a short taxi ride away, so you don't need to worry about transportation at all. Impressive exterior and lobby 🏰 I was attracted by the hotel's appearance as soon as I arrived. The architectural style is distinctive and grand. Stepping into the lobby was even more eye-opening—it's luxuriously decorated with exquisite details everywhere. The marble floor is polished so brightly you can see your reflection. There's also a small fountain in the lobby with soothing water sounds. During check-in, the front desk staff were extremely friendly and efficient, quickly taking care of everything for me. I left with a full stomach every morning. The hotel has several restaurants, and I tried dinner at one of them—the food was exceptional. I ordered braised pork belly that was perfectly fatty without being greasy and melted in my mouth. The waitstaff were also very attentive, recommending dishes based on your preferences, which felt very thoughtful. Thoughtful service ❤️ The hotel service really impressed me. Whether it was the front desk, waitstaff, or housekeeping, everyone was extremely friendly. One night I returned quite late and found an issue with the room light. I called the front desk, and someone came to fix it in less than ten minutes. The hotel also provides a free gym and swimming pool. I went to the gym every morning for a workout, which made me feel much more energetic. In summary, this stay was wonderful 🎉 My stay at Pan Pacific Suzhou Hotel was truly delightful. Suzhou Family-Friendly Hotel Recommendations I'm the type of person who doesn't spend much time researching travel guides - I just pick a place, book tickets, and pack my bags. My focus is on relaxation and entertainment. This time in Suzhou, instead of booking Hilton or similar chain hotels, I chose a hotel that reflects the local Jiangnan characteristics of Suzhou. Pan Pacific Suzhou The hotel - I never expected it to be inside a scenic area. When we arrived, I thought it was a city gate tower, wondering where the city wall was. This unexpected choice turned out to be perfect for our last day's itinerary. That's a story for later, as we only spent two hours in the scenic area on the last rainy day before catching our high-speed train. ✔The hotel lobby features an Eight Trigrams pattern on the top floor, which I absolutely love. The hotel has reportedly been around since around the founding of the People's Republic of China, maintaining its classical charm. Also, the heating is excellent - contrary to what people say about the south being cold, it's as warm as northern floor heating. ✔The hotel offers various room types. Since we needed separate sleeping areas, we chose a two-bedroom suite with a living room for the first day - it was HUGE!!!! We felt like we were in a maze. The next day, we switched to a one-bedroom suite, which still had two bathrooms. ✔For family trips, I find the amenities most convenient.
