Lille is not a big city, but it has many well-known universities and many students live there, so the city's atmosphere is very dynamic. It takes just over an hour to get there by train from Paris, which is enough time for a round trip in one day. Attractions to visit: ⛪️ 🇫🇷1. palais des beaux arts de Lille Lille Museum of Fine Arts This art gallery is the second largest art gallery in France after the Louvre in Paris. It houses collections of famous artists such as Raphael, Michelangelo, and Monet, and is well worth visiting. 🇫🇷2.grand palais grand palace Located in the center of Lille, with shopping malls and restaurants, events and exhibitions are often held in Paris. 🇫🇷3.ville bourse old stock exchange Built in 1652-1653, it is the most conspicuous building in the old town of Lille. La Citadelle Lille Castle A little away from the city, it was once a French army garrison and one of Lille's important landmarks. Although the city of Lille is not big, it has many local specialties and several snack bars are recommended. 🧇1. Pâtisserie Méert: A century-old dessert shop. The Lille Museum of Fine Arts is the second largest museum in France, second only to the Louvre in Paris! It was built by order of Napoleon I in the early 19th century. Admission to the museum is free on the first Sunday of every month. The building is two stories high. The basement mainly exhibits sculptures from the 18th and 19th centuries and some ceramics. There will be different limited-time exhibitions in the basement atrium. The first floor is filled with paintings, and the rooms are differentiated by walls of different colors. It would take about two hours to complete the entire tour.

This is a very well managed musuem with a vast collection of pictures and artefacts. During our 3 nights of stay in Lille, the Palaix des Beaux arts was amongst the most impressive of experiences. The security was done well and in terms of facilities i noticed it is even accessible to those with a wheel chair. I noticed a whole group of people on wheel chairs visiting it. I think it's fantastic. At the museum the lower level can be visited free orf cost. If it peaks your curiosity, you may go ahead and explore the upper levels. I think for a collection of this quality, the 7 euros felt very worth it. I have spent ridiculous amounts of money for the entrance excuse to places that don't deserve it at all (hagia sophia in Istanbul for instance).
