I love kangaroos so much that every time I come to Melbourne I always have to find time to visit them

Sovereign Hill Gold Rush Town is one of the most anticipated attractions in Melbourne...because of the super retro western cowboy movie set... Once inside, it's like "traveling through time and space" that takes us to the gold rush period of the 1850s... not like the hard wax figure and text introduction, but combines the tour, video, gold mining demo, and the real-life experience of going to gold mining yourself. It was a Valentines trip to Ballarat. We spent our Valentine’s Day in Ballarat, and it was such a delightful escape! We took a peaceful walk around the historic gardens, hand-in-hand, with the backdrop of towering trees and colorful flowers, such a beautiful way to start the day. The perfect spot for a romantic picnic 🧺 too if you want to spend some quiet moments surrounded by nature 😍 📍Gillies Street North, Ballarat, VIC 3350 We then made our way to Sovereign Hill, one of Ballarat’s most iconic attractions. This open-air museum is like stepping back in time to the 1850s during the gold rush. We dressed up in period costumes (which was such fun!) and explored the recreated streets, trying our hand at gold panning. The charm of the old shops, the horse-drawn wagons, and the gold mine tours added to the nostalgic experience 🙌 📍39 Magpie Street, Ballarat, VIC 3350 We also headed to Lake Wendouree, one of Ballarat’s most popular natural attractions. We spent some time wandering around the lake, enjoying the fresh air and watching the swans gliding on the water 💧 If you’re looking for a truly romantic experience, I would highly recommend hiring a swan 🦢 boat for a leisurely row around the lake. It’s so peaceful, and the views are just breathtaking 😍 📍Wendouree Parade, Ballarat, VIC 3350 As the day was drawing to a close, we made our way to the Ballarat Wildlife Park to catch the sunset 🌇 It was a unique experience as we got to enjoy the serene atmosphere while meeting some native Australian animals up close. From cuddly koalas to curious kangaroos 🦘 the wildlife park offers a laid-back and memorable way to finish the day. If you have kids, this is a must stay in Ballarat! Nutmeg House Hosted by Karen on Airbnb. Lovely home, fully stocked and equipped kitchen, luscious backyard at your humble expense, chickens!! Kids had so much fun and loved every bit of our 4days here! Wishing for a longer stay.. Very thoughtful host and provided more than basic support for me as a solo mom. Favourite 😍 Ho ping to come back again and will bring my husband! My dream home! we did Gold Panning in Sovereign Hill got tiny bit of Gold!! Great experience. Drove to Catch Trout at Tuki Trout farm! Had a quiet stroll in Daylesford before heading back. Did Ballarat Wildlife Park no pictures here will do in the next! Wonderful experience at Sovereign Hill

Visiting Ballarat was like stepping back in time. The charm of this historic city was palpable as I explored Sovereign Hill, an open-air museum that vividly recreates the Gold Rush era. Strolling along Lydiard Street, I admired beautifully preserved Victorian architecture. The Ballarat Botanical Gardens offered a peaceful retreat with stunning floral displays. Lake Wendouree was a picturesque spot for a leisurely walk, and the Art Gallery of Ballarat impressed with its rich collection of Australian art.

#australiatrip Gorgeously renovated art deco cinema that inspires romanticism for film goers. Cinema 1 is majestic but could benefit from a bigger screen, better sound and allocated seating that reclines for the ticket price.. The candy bar could also be improved with more modern food and drink offerings.. But still a fantastic cinema complex which leaves all modern cinemas for dead when it comes to drama, style and theatre..

#australiatrip I went to the Art Gallery of Ballarat today on a Friday. It was not busy. Entry was free which is great. Only a few minutes walk from Ballarat railway station. The Gallery is very interesting with a lot of interesting arts. It's very clean and nice like a 5-star hotel. I loved and enjoyed all the arts that they displayed, really appreciate all the staff for taking care of the place so well and highly appreciate all the artists that provided their artwork there.

Ballarat is a famous gold rush town in history. Sovereign Hill in the town is a super large outdoor 'museum', which truly restores the historical appearance of the town during the gold rush period, as if traveling through time and space, and the photos are also very retro. 👍You can take a peek at the 'gold rush scene', encounter stylish carriages, and even experience panning for gold in the river yourself! 📷：Visit Victoria

Entering Sovereign Hill is like traveling through a time tunnel, and immediately switching to Melbourne in the early 19th century, like being in a cowboy town in the western desert. Employees must wear traditional 19th century costumes, so there is a special rule here that tourists cannot wear this type of clothing, so as not to be mistaken for employees 😂 The gold mine tour is definitely not to be missed. A professional tour guide took us on a mine cart and drove deep into the gold mine through the tunnel. The flickering candlelight all around and the maze-like tunnels made everything seem real. After passing through abandoned excavation ruins and restricted areas, we arrived at the secret room. The secret room experience is accompanied by traditional Chinese music, telling the story of the Chen brothers who crossed the sea from China to Australia to pan for gold in the mid-19th century.

This is a highly recommended place. The staff will dress up as people from the town, and you can take a horse-drawn carriage to tour the entire town. You can also purchase a gold panning experience, or purchase a subway ticket to go underground and see the scattered gold fields at that time. There are also other performances to watch in the town, which is quite lively.
