Review of a trip to southern Laos, self-guided edition
#TravelSouthLaos
Hello friends of #trip for those who are going to travel to Southern Laos. Today, biologirl will review a self-guided tour without a tour group. 🚗 Let's have fun!
🌻Day 1
🔶 Leave the airport by taking a minibus from the airport to Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal for 20 baht all the way. The bus leaves every half hour if it is full.
🔶 Buy a van ticket to Chong Mek border for 200 baht. The bus leaves every half hour, but if it is full, it will leave first.
❌ The van will not take us to Chong Mek border. Instead, we will have to walk or call a passenger (which is already waiting to pick us up) for 30 baht per person, along with a broker selling a van to Pakse. 😜
🔶 When you arrive at Chong Mek border, look for a sign for Laos. You don't have to rush to exchange money or buy a SIM card. Go through immigration first and then walk out of Chong Mek border. Then you have to walk across to Wang Tao border (Laos).
✨ There will be a currency exchange point here, from Thai baht to Laos. But we don't exchange Lao money to Thai money. 🥹 ❌ Prepare 100 baht for the Lao immigration. Then walk out to buy a SIM card (this SIM card has a limited amount of internet, not unlimited).
‼️ Very old Lao money
🚗 We made an appointment to pick up a rental car with the owner at the Wang Tao checkpoint. After receiving the car, we drove out of the checkpoint and headed to Pakse. ✨ The surprise was that we met and were charged a toll like the expressway in our country, but it was not an expressway. ❌😅
‼️ Be careful of goats 🐐 and cows 🐄 crossing the road.
🔶 The first restaurant we ate at was la memoire, a classic restaurant with average food. The price of a typical restaurant, stir-fried basil, starts at 80 baht.
🔶 Checked in at Pakse Hotel. The hotel is not very big. The equipment is quite complete, but the small room is not soundproof. There is a rooftop to go up and eat. There is a restaurant upstairs and beer for sale. The breakfast was not very impressive. There was not much to choose from. There was no ham or sausage.
🔶 Amor cafe is a very popular luxury cafe in green tones. Medium price, medium taste, not flashy, has bakery
🔶 Wat Phusalao is on the mountain, you have to drive around the mountain path, there are a lot of cows along the way, but the temple has a beautiful view, it is a viewpoint looking down to see the Laos-Japan Friendship Bridge
🔶 Lula, a famous pork pan, delicious, should come and eat, sold as a set
🍉Day 2
🟩 Tad Fane Waterfall and super fun zipline, entrance fee 30,000 kip ‼️You should prepare just enough, zipline fee 1,550 with staff to take pictures ‼️There is 1 line that you have to walk up the mountain, it is really tiring.
🟩 Tad Yueng Waterfall, entrance fee 30,000 kip, car 25,000 kip, you have to walk to the waterfall, it is not far, but it is tiring, the waterfall is very misty, you should prepare a raincoat ✨The restaurant at the waterfall is delicious, you should eat and exchange money as well.
🟩 CC1971 cafe, an abandoned cafe that used to be a power plant There are traces of bombs and bullets from World War I. Coffee tastes average. 🟩 Tad Tayik Suea Waterfall The entrance is difficult and far away. It is a gravel road. Low-rise cars should be careful. The entrance fee is 45,000 kip per person and you have to walk a long way. It is not recommended for those who cannot walk. ✨ But it is very beautiful. Very beautiful and very wet. You should prepare a raincoat and wear shoes that are tight or slippery. 🟩 Pho Lan Kham, 50,000 kip per bowl. The area in front of the shop is a one-way street. Be careful when driving.
🌷 Day 3
🔷 Dao Rueng Market, parking fee 10,000 kip. Most of the items are the same, such as clothes and household items. Not worth buying as souvenirs. There is no identity.
🔷 Balance cafe, average taste, service charge and tax are charged. It is expensive. But the cafe is beautiful.
🔷 Back to Chong Mek, there are not many vans. Those who take the plane must be careful about the time or contact the van ticket seller in advance. But there will be people selling vans, but it is much more expensive than vans.
I hope everyone enjoys their trip to Southern Laos.
