First class on uk trains can be hit and miss. I recently went to Devon with GWR and opted for first class. Was it worth it? Well, for us yes because it was just £15 extra compared to standard class but any more than that and I’d say no. Nicer seat, with a table and a couple of cups of tea is about all you can expect. On our journey down, the staff were great and we were offered regular drinks and snacks. On the way back they couldn’t be bothered and we got offered one drink on a 3 hour journey. First class really is hit and miss.
