My first stop was the Palace of the Parliament, which is the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon! The entrance fee was around 40 RON (about €8), and the sheer scale of it is jaw-dropping. I also wandered through the Old Town, which is packed with vibrant bars, restaurants, and stunning historical buildings like Stavropoleos Monastery. The architecture is a beautiful mix of neo-classical and communist-era buildings, making the cityscape incredibly unique. 🏛️ If you’re into parks, don’t miss Herăstrău Park—a huge green space where you can even rent a boat to paddle on the lake. For something more cultural, the Village Museum nearby is like stepping back in time, with traditional Romanian houses and a super reasonable entrance fee of just 15 RON. The food scene is another highlight! I tried some local dishes like sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls) and mici (grilled minced meat), which were so tasty. Bucharest really impressed us — full of charm, history, and buzzing energy. We stayed at The Marmorosch Bucharest, Autograph Collection, and it was honestly one of the nicest hotel stays we’ve had in a while. Housed in a beautifully restored former bank, the hotel oozes character — think Art Deco interiors, grand staircases, and a Vault Bar tucked inside the old bank vault (very cool!). We were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco on arrival, which was such a lovely touch — and the staff were genuinely warm and attentive throughout our stay. The hotel sits right in the heart of Bucharest’s Old Town, where you’ll find cobbled streets, great food, quirky bars and loads of history around every corner. It’s lively, walkable and packed with atmosphere — day and night. If you’re after a European city break that’s a bit different and full of character, definitely give Bucharest a go.
