[2025 Dubai Shopping Mall] Travel Guide for Old Souk (Updated Jun)
Old Souk Address:
Downtown Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Old Souk where you can experience traditional Arab culture🐪🏜️
📍Location: Dubai (Bur Dubai area), UAE🇦🇪
💰Price per person: Free entry (shopping can be a bargain if you negotiate!💰)
🛍️Atmosphere/Facilities: An exotic brick arcade lined with shops selling fabrics, spices, miscellaneous goods, etc.✨
An old-fashioned market style that gives a glimpse into the lives of local people🏺🌾
💞Reasons why we recommend it: A rare area where you can feel the old-fashioned Arabian atmosphere, which is a little different from Dubai's futuristic image🌙🧕
There are plenty of bargains, such as colorful scarves, pashminas, lamps, and perfume bottles💡
Price negotiations are also a great part of traveling, and you can enjoy interacting with local people◎
Recommended season: The cooler months of November to March are recommended. It's comfortable to stroll around during the day ☀️
Overall impression: In contrast to the glittering Dubai, the rustic and warm atmosphere is comforting 🌾
Access by the water taxi "Abra" is also full of atmosphere, and it instantly improves the travel mood 🚤
A perfect spot for those looking for souvenirs or wanting to experience a little culture ✨
However, I almost got ripped off when I tried to buy playing cards, so if you want to enjoy shopping safely, Dubai Mall or souvenir shops in the city might be better... 🥲

While staying in Dubai, I went to a souk that still retains an old-fashioned atmosphere. This time, I took a special trip across the creek on a traditional wooden boat called an abra!
The abra is a ferry used by locals, and one of its attractions is that you can ride it for just 1 dirham. As I was blown by the wind and looked at the old market scenery on the opposite bank, I was able to experience a side that is full of history and culture, completely different from modern Dubai.
When I arrived at the souk, I was greeted by the aroma of spices and the colorful fabrics, lamps, souvenirs, and more, all lined up in a small space, and it was fun just walking around. Bargaining with the merchants was also an experience unique to the souk, and it was a memorable moment of my trip.
This is a recommended spot where you can feel the nostalgic Arabian atmosphere, which is in contrast to modern Dubai!

[Dubai] Enjoy the locals in Dubai ♡
Dubai may have a strong image of glittering and sparkling these days, but I highly recommend going to the souks (markets) and the magnificent desert, which still retain a strong sense of the old Arab atmosphere. It's not too far, so I recommend taking a walk around the souks and local areas during the day and booking a desert tour in the evening before the sun goes down. It's about a 20-minute taxi ride from the downtown area in the center of Dubai to the Deira area! The abra (ferry) costs just a few dirhams (about a few tens of yen) and takes you on a short boat trip across Dubai Creek! When you get on this, it feels like you're arriving at the souk! →This was exquisitely amazing, so I recommend you try it out. #overseastraveltactics

[It's like going back in time! Walking around the Arabian town of Al Fahidi Historic District✨]
Dubai is famous for its skyscrapers and luxury hotels, but the area where you can enjoy the old Arabian atmosphere is "Al Fahidi Historic District" 🏰✨
Here, the 19th century Dubai cityscape remains intact, and it is a nostalgic area with sand-colored buildings, narrow alleys, and traditional architecture 🌿📸 Take a leisurely stroll and feel the roots of Dubai ✨
📍1. Stroll surrounded by traditional Arabian architecture 🚶♀️
The buildings in Al Fahidi Historic District are made of sand-colored bricks and feature "bajils (wind towers)" that let in wind 🏜️ These are said to be the "natural air conditioners" of old Dubai 👀❄️ Walking through the narrow alleys makes you feel like you've traveled back in time to old Dubai! There are plenty of photo spots, so it's fun to walk around with a camera in hand 📸💖
📍2. Museums and galleries where you can experience culture and art 🎨
📍2. Take a break at an Arabian cafe and restaurant ☕️
If you get tired of walking, take a break at a cafe where you can enjoy traditional Arabian coffee or mint tea 🍵✨ **Arabian Tea House** is particularly popular, and its cute white and blue interior is perfect for SNS 💙🏺 Here, you can also taste Middle Eastern dishes such as **falafel (chickpea croquettes) and hummus (chickpea paste) ** 😋
📍3. Souk tours and local shopping 🛍️
There is also a souk (market) nearby, so we recommend shopping while you're walking around ✨ You can get colorful scarves and traditional goods at the spice souk and textile souk 🌿👗 Perfect for looking for local souvenirs!

[Save this] Introducing the "3 major souks" you must visit in Dubai! Dubai has a strong image of skyscrapers, but walking through an Arabian market is also very emotional.

Each souk can be easily visited on foot or by abra, making it a perfect place to stop by between sightseeing.

It's like the world of Aladdin in Dubai Old Souk 🇦🇪
This is a must-visit spot when you come to Dubai! Dubai has a strong glittering image, but there are also nostalgic places like this ✨ Get off at Gold Souq Station or Al Ras Station on the Metro Green Line and walk for about 7 minutes. There are a lot of tourists, so you won't get lost! You'll get there if you walk! You can get a lot of souvenirs here, so it's good to buy them in bulk! Try to negotiate the price. We reduced the price of a cashmere stole from 6,000 yen to 1,500 yen lol Be careful because they rip off tourists quite a bit ⚠️ But it's fun! The recommended time to go is around 5 to 6 o'clock when the sunset is beautiful. You can take a boat to the opposite shore for 1 dirham (40 yen), so you can enjoy the sunset on this boat! There are many products that look like the real Dubai chocolate, which is currently a hot topic, and you can try them. You can get so much food that you'll be full after tasting it, so I hope you enjoy the food too🍫📍Dubai Spice Souk: 779W+3H4 - Deira - Al Ras - Dubai - United Arab Emirates

[Dubai] Traditional market in the United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 Old Dubai
This is Dubai's old market! Old Dubai is an old town where you can feel the traditions and culture of the Arab world!
The recommended spots are:
Bastakiya district with many traditional buildings and a local Starbucks
Gold Souk with hundreds of jewelry stores and the world's largest ring
Spice Souk with its fragrant spices, tea leaves, nuts and dried fruits
Old Souk where traditional costumes such as abayas, stoles and accessories are sold.
You can go around each place in about 30-40 minutes, so you can spend a relaxing and luxurious time just wandering around.
On the way, you will need to take a small boat to cross the Dubai Creek Canal, but it's also a lot of fun!
The fare is only 2 dirhams, so feel free to take a ride.

Dubai Old City Market
📍The old city market in Dubai is a bustling traditional market located in the center of the city's historic district.
🌟In the market, the gold market is the most famous, with over 300 gold shops offering dazzling gold jewelry and gemstones.
❤ The Spice Market is my personal favorite, where visitors can experience the colorful and fragrant world of Middle Eastern spices, herbs, and teas. That eye-catching red spice is saffron, which is usually used for seasoning and coloring dishes and is known for its unique aroma and taste. It is also one of the most expensive spices in the world because the process of harvesting and processing saffron is very labor-intensive.
📝Saffron is most commonly used as a spice in cooking, but it is also used as a dye for clothing and textiles. The yellow-orange color of saffron is often used in traditional clothing, such as the saffron robes worn by Buddhist monks in Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia.
