We have a quick meal at the family mart and headed to Hakodate. 9:45am JR TRAIN to Sapporo → Hakodate stations 4 hours journey. - Checked in Hotel, late lunch at Lucky Pierrot Bay Area Main Shop ラッキーピエロ ベイエリア本店 and walked to Motomachi Park 元町公園, Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward 旧函館区公会堂 (CLOSED, but see outside), Hachiman-saka Slope 八幡坂 (the slope see the view to the sea), Higashi Honganji Temple, Hakodate Russian Orthodox Church (use google maps, is walkable) - then to go up to Mt. Hakodate Observation Deck 函館山展望台 (Hakodate Night View) - round trip (Adults - 1280, Child - 640) Day 2 - - Visit the Hakodate Asaichi (Morning Market) 函館朝市 (Brunch/Breakfast) - i had a bowl of raw fish rice! too early for my stomach :P - walk to Ferry Memorial Ship Mashu-maru Museum 0900-1600 函館市青函連絡船記念館摩周丸 (Adults - 500, Child - 250) - Visit Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse - see the shops - Tram to Goryōkaku 特別史跡五稜郭跡 (Adults - 900, Child - 450) - we waited from late after to evening, just to see the sunset :) - Tram to Hakodate BeerHall, Japan, 〒040-0053 Hokkaido, Hakodate, 末広町14番12号 for dinner #celebratewithtrip

The Old Hakodate Ward Public Hall was built in 1910 and is a representative example of Western-style architecture. It was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 1974. One of these is the Old Hakodate Ward Public Hall. We don't know the exact purpose of its use at the time, but it is registered as a national cultural property. Photography is allowed inside, so I took a few photos and captured them on camera. This place is near the top of a hill and not on flat ground, so you can see the area around Hakodate Port, but it was raining on the day I visited and the view was not very good, so I would like to go again if I get the chance.

A trip to Hakodate, the setting of the Detective Conan movie "The Million Dollar Five-Point Star" I've been wanting to go to Hakodate ever since I saw the Conan movie "The Million Dollar Five-Point Star" last year, and I finally made it there! I took the Hokuto Express 6 from Sapporo and arrived in about 4 hours. The long train ride went by in a flash, as I was soothed by the snowy scenery of Hokkaido that could be seen from the window. This time, I booked a hotel that appeared in a Conan movie, so I was even more excited. After arriving at Hakodate Station, I left my luggage at the hotel and headed to Hakodate Lucky Pierrot to fill my stomach! =========================================== 🍔 Hakodate Lucky Pierrot – Hakodate's famous hamburger ========================================== I ordered the Chinese chicken burger set, which I absolutely wanted to try when I came to Hakodate. The crispy chicken was coated with sweet and spicy sauce and was very delicious! The fries were also topped with plenty of cheese, so it was very filling and I was very satisfied. The unique interior of the restaurant also made the meal even more enjoyable. ============================================ ⛪️A stroll around Hachimanzaka and Motomachi, typical streets of Hakodate🚶 =========================================== After filling our stomachs, we took a stroll around Hachimanzaka and Motomachi, two of Hakodate's most popular tourist spots. There are many European-style buildings here, and it feels like a small Western townscape is spreading out in Japan. In particular, the view of the sea from Hachimanzaka was very beautiful, and it was a lot of fun walking while remembering the scenes from the movie. Motomachi is lined with historical Western-style buildings, and the streets are full of exotic atmosphere. As it is a place that also appeared in the movie, it was a different kind of nostalgia. =========================================== 🌆 The million-dollar night view from Mt. Hakodate Observatory ========================================= If you come to Hakodate, you can't miss the night view from Mt. Hakodate Observatory! I hurried to get on the cable car so that I could arrive in the evening. However, it was snowing unexpectedly and I could hardly see anything, but as it got darker, the night view spread out beautifully and I was moved. It was a really happy moment to be able to see the million-dollar night view depicted in the movie right in front of my eyes!! Looking at the photo makes me want to eat it again lol ========================================== 🌨️ Breakfast in Hakodate and the beautiful snow scenery of Goryokaku ========================================= The next morning, after enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we headed to Goryokaku. There was snow piled up and Goryokaku Park was very beautiful. I was able to fully experience the charm of Hakodate in winter. After that, we headed to Hakodate Airport and returned to Tokyo, but it was a fulfilling trip surrounded by beautiful scenery and delicious food. I would like to go again!

This is a historical district left behind after Hakodate opened its port early on. The streets are lined with Western-style buildings, such as the Hakodate Orthodox Church and the Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, each telling the story of Hakodate's past. Next, I visited the famous Red Brick Warehouse District. The warehouses have been converted into cafes, shops, and restaurants, retaining a sense of history while being full of modern vitality. I sat down in a cafe, ordered a cup of coffee and Hokkaido's exclusive cheesecake, and enjoyed a rare leisurely time while looking out at the harbor through the window. Night at Mount Hakodate: The Stunning View of One of the World's Top Three Nightscapes As night fell, I took the cable car to Mount Hakodate to enjoy the city's most famous attraction—the Hakodate night view. The cable car slowly ascended, overlooking the city's lights gradually lighting up, like a river of stars scattered on the ground. At the top, the view was even more stunning: Hakodate's city center presents a unique 'fan-shaped' layout, with the coastlines on both sides drawing beautiful curves. The appearance of gorgeous colours such as gray exterior walls and yellow-painted pillars is eye-catching. The facility is open to the public, and you can visit the large hall with a ceiling height of 6 metres and an area of 130 tsubo and a balcony overlooking Hakodate Port. It is also a good idea to rent a costume reminiscent of the Meiji period and take a commemorative photo. The AR system, which was introduced as a new exhibition, is also gaining popularity because it allows you to experience the atmosphere of the time. There is a shop that sells original goods, so it is also recommended for looking for Hakodate souvenirs.

The former Hakodate Ward Public Hall is located just a stone's throw from the former British Consulate in Hakodate City.
