[2025 Poznan Attraction] Travel Guide for Old Market Square (Updated Apr)

Poznan, a symphony of history and modernity When you set foot on the land of Poznan, you will enter a wonderful picture where history and modernity are intertwined. The Old Market Square is a time-travel treasure box in Poznan. The exterior walls of the surrounding buildings are so colorful that it looks like a paint palette has been overturned. The Gothic spires soar into the sky, the Baroque-style decorations are intricate and exquisite, and every brick and stone is engraved with the traces of time. The Town Hall is undoubtedly the focal point of the square, magnificent and spectacular. Every hour, the mechanical goats would bump into each other and bray, instantly bringing people back to the ancient legends, creating a lively atmosphere. At St. Stanislaus Cathedral, the Gothic architectural style exudes solemnity. As you step into the church, you can see faint light coming through the colorful glazed windows and the exquisite murals on the walls telling religious legends that make you feel awe. Poznan's cuisine is equally amazing. Polish dumplings are small and exquisite, with rich and varied fillings. When you take a bite, you will feel a full sense of happiness; the hunter's stew is fragrant, and the ingredients are stewed in the rich soup until they are soft and tasty. In your spare time, find a street coffee shop and order an apple strudel with a crispy crust and soft, sweet filling. Pair it with a cup of strong coffee and quietly feel the comfort and beauty of this city.

#2024mapped Poland is a huge country comparable to Germany. For example, travelling from Berlin to Warsaw take no less than 8hours. So it’s naturally for me to try to look for a city to stop in between. That was Poznan. And it’s much more lovely than I’ve expected for its architecture and food. First of all, the architecture was very different from Western Europe (and no less so from its other Eastern European members like Czech, Austria and Budapest). Places to go: 1) Old Town 2) Town Hall 3) Old Market Square 4) Royal Castle 5) Adam Mickiewicz Square ….. and some churches that I’ll talk about in the next post
