Okayama Momotaro Airport
🛬【Okayama Momotaro Airport|Unpopular but useful starting point for travelers】
Although Okayama Airport is located in a remote mountainous area, the transportation is surprisingly convenient. There are shuttle buses directly to Okayama Station and Kurashiki at the airport entrance. You can take the bus by purchasing a ticket for 1,000 yen with a transportation card or cash. If the bus is full, it will be added. You don’t have to wait for the bus. It is a very thoughtful design.
The entire airport is not big. There are convenience stores and souvenir shops on the first floor, and the second floor is a restaurant area. Although it is small in scale, it has everything it should have. The distance between the domestic and international lines is less than 100 meters, and the movement line is clear, so it is not easy to get lost. There is a small duty-free shop after leaving the country. There are not many products but basically everything is available. It is suitable for the last replenishment, but the price is slightly higher than the city.
There will be a small queue during the peak entry and exit hours. There are not many counters but the staff is friendly and the process is not complicated. The overall tourism quality is relatively refreshing and there is no crowd pressure. Starting from Okayama, the Shinkansen can go to Hiroshima and Osaka, whether it is a first visit or island hopping.
Recommended to backpackers and independent travelers as the starting point of western Japan, clean, smooth and stress-free.

[Okayama Airport|Free JCB Airport VIP Lounge Experience] A little happiness limited to cardholders!
Did you know? If you hold a JCB card, you can enjoy free use of airport VIP lounges at many airports in Japan! This time when I flew back from Okayama, I specially experienced the JCB Airport VIP Lounge at Okayama Airport. Although the space is not large and the facilities are simple, it is really practical for travelers who want to find a place to quietly drink a cup of tea and sit down to rest. Because Okayama Airport is not big and not many people usually use it, we reserved the entire airport this time and it was quite relaxing to charge our phone while waiting for the plane.
☕️ The VIP room content is simple but practical
The JCB Airport VIP Lounge at Okayama Airport is not luxuriously decorated. It mainly provides quiet seating areas and free drinks (such as coffee, tea, and water), which is suitable for taking a short break while waiting for the plane.
💳 Free admission with JCB card!
As long as you hold a JCB card (including some overseas-issued cards) and show your boarding pass for the day, you can enter the airport VIP lounge for free! No extra charge required, very cost-effective.
📶 Facilities and Services
📌Free Wi-Fi
📌Drinks available
📌Quiet environment
Although there are no advanced facilities such as catering or massage chairs here, this is already a very thoughtful service for a small airport!
📍 Friendly reminder
📌Both JCB card and boarding pass must be presented
📌Each card has a maximum usage limit per year
📌Only available on the day of departure
🛫 Don’t forget to take advantage of JCB card benefits when traveling to Japan!
Okayama is just one of the stops. JCB cards can also enjoy VIP lounge services at New Chitose, Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Chubu, Fukuoka, Naha and other airports.
Don’t miss this little treat next time you fly!

Flying Tigerair Taiwan: A comfortable and friendly air journey
This time I chose Tigerair Taiwan's direct flight from Taipei to Okayama, Japan. Although it is a low-cost airline, the overall experience is quite good. The seats are surprisingly comfortable, with plenty of room for short flights and you won’t feel tired even if you sit for long periods of time. The cabin crew were friendly and smiling from boarding to landing, making people feel warm and caring. The takeoff and landing were both quite smooth, and the safety briefing on the plane was clear and concise, which made me feel at ease about this journey.
👍Delicious airplane meals: surprising in-flight delicacies
Airplane meals have always been the focus of many passengers. This time I chose the pork ribs rice provided by Tigerair Taiwan as my airplane meal, and it turned out to be more delicious than expected! The meat is tender and juicy, and you can taste the rich aroma of the sauce in every bite. The white rice is distinct in grains and has the right amount of hardness and softness. It is also garnished with vegetables and side dishes, which not only enhances the overall taste but also makes the whole meal look richer. Even in the limited environment of an airplane, the dining experience is still satisfying. Paired with a glass of refreshing juice, this kind of airplane meal makes people forget the fatigue of the journey and is a highlight of the trip.
📍Okayama: An Underrated Travel Secret
Okayama may not be as lively as Tokyo, Osaka and other places, but it has its own unique charm. Compared to Osaka, flights to Okayama are cheaper, making it the best choice for many budget-conscious travelers. There are many transportation options from Okayama Airport to the city center. After arriving in the city center, you can not only taste authentic Japanese food, but also visit famous attractions such as Okayama Castle and Korakuen. These places retain the charm of traditional Japanese culture without being crowded with tourists, allowing people to experience the Japanese style in a leisurely manner.
🚩Convenient transportation: easy travel in western Japan
Okayama is not only a great place to easily visit local attractions such as Kurashiki and the Ohara Museum of Art, but it is also a gateway to exploring western Japan. By taking the Shinkansen, you can reach cities such as Hiroshima and Kobe in a short time. If you want to see the Japanese countryside, there are many hidden attractions in Okayama Prefecture, such as the magnificent stalactite caves of Ikura Cave and the Galaxy Railway in Mihoshi Town, which are all beautiful attractions worth visiting. Convenient transportation makes travel planning more flexible. Whether it is an in-depth exploration or a short trip, Okayama is a good starting point.
👍Conclusion: A cost-effective Japan itinerary
Whether it was the flight experience on Tigerair Taiwan or the travel experience in Okayama after arriving, I was satisfied with this trip. Compared with other popular destinations, Okayama has more diverse options and higher cost-effectiveness. If you’re planning your next trip to Japan, consider starting here for a relaxing yet fulfilling journey exploring this underrated city. I hope this sharing can bring inspiration to your travel plans. Let’s start your next trip from Okayama!

Small and beautiful Okayama Momotaro Airport
It takes about 30 to 40 minutes from the airport to the West Exit of Okayama Station. The airport bus will be arranged according to the flight schedule, so passengers will have a bus and a seat.
Okayama Airport is very small, but the immigration and customs security checks are not sloppy. Sometimes the luggage is cleared earlier than the passengers, and the service staff are very polite.
There are several restaurants and souvenir shops on the 2nd floor before departure. The food is delicious and the price is not too expensive, just like in the city. There is also a JCB VIP lounge and observation deck on the 3rd floor. There is only one duty-free shop after clearing customs for the international route. It doesn't sell many things but it's enough.
There is no water dispenser in the waiting room, and passengers on low-cost airlines can only buy water from vending machines. The other chairs and toilets are very comfortable. This is my favorite regional airport.
