Highlights: The Oita Prefectural Art Museum is a modern art museum located about 30 minutes away from central Beppu in downtown Oita City. What I love the most is the eye-catching building which is designed by Japanese architect Ban Shigeru. 🤩 The art galleries are located on the third floor of the museum and can be accessed via a spacious entryway with a gently curved, wood lattice ceiling. #getgoing2025 The Oita Prefectural Museum of Art is a "Museum of Encounters and Five Senses" that holds about 5,000 works such as Japanese and Western paintings, focussing on works related to Oita. It mainly exhibits artists such as Maryu Yoshiwara and Koremi Iwao from Oita and modern and contemporary art works, and their charm is transmitted to both at home and abroad. The building was designed by architect Shigeru Saka, and the interior and glass-walled exterior, which evokes Oita's traditional bamboo crafts, are eye-catching. In addition to permanent exhibitions, we hold various special exhibitions throughout the year.

[Oita Prefectural Museum of Art] "Cute Japanese Art" Exhibition You can see "cute" animals and "cute" kimonos✨ Among them is an exhibition of "Oita Bamboo Craft Masterpieces", and although photography is generally prohibited, some photos were allowed♪ The exhibition is mainly of works by Living National Treasure Shounsai Ikuno, and there are over 300 pieces on display, so it is a spectacular sight⭐️ I am impressed by the fine weave and smooth curves.
