[2025 Gero Stay] Travel Guide for Ogawaya (Updated Jun)

📍Gero Onsen Ogawaya 570 Yunoshima, Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, 509-2207 🚗Free parking available (80 spaces) 🚃8 minutes walk from Gero Station on the JR Takayama Line (pick-up service available) You can visit 5 different baths in the hotel, and the location is excellent! You can rent a yukata and enjoy eating your way around Gero Onsen ( •ө•)♥️ There is also a private bath (for a fee), so you can relax with your family or a couple 🥰 The food made with local Hida beef is really delicious, and the portions are very satisfying 💮 It's a shame that I couldn't take photos because it's a large public bath, but there is a tatami bath so you don't have to worry about slipping 🤝 The staff are all very kind. It depends on the room, but I had a room facing the river, so I was looking outside at night when the fireworks started (⊃'-'⊂) It's really nice to spend time at a ryokan with someone special while watching nature🤝 There is a large shop inside the building, and a foot bath! I was worried about the high price for New Year's, but I decided to go to Gero Onsen, so I did some research and found a cheap inn that included two meals. This time, it was just over 80,000 yen for two nights for four adults. Results • The bath was very good • The futon was just a thin futon • It's okay if there's no dinner, but it's better if there isn't • If you're okay with toast and coffee for breakfast, it's OK • The innkeepers were kind • There's a parking lot nearby, and you can park before or after check-out So, I think it's for people who want to stay cheaply without meals. On the first day, after taking a break at Starbucks at Lake Suwa Interchange, we went to Gero Onsen's conveyor belt sushi restaurant, Uozen, which we made a reservation for in the car. Sushi in Gifu? But the reviews were good, so we went, and it was quite delicious. At the liquor store Ogawaya next to the inn, you can taste five glasses of sake for 500 yen, which is good value and fun. Three of us bought 10 coins and shared them. Also, I didn't go, but the nearby snack bar Majo served something like candied sparrows, which was surprising 😲 Apparently they also went to eat Sarashina miso ramen near the inn, which was super delicious. Maybe dinner could be had here too. On the second day, we went to the large hot spring hotel Ogawaya for a day trip bath, which also had a large bath, which was nice. New Year's fee is 2000 yen per person, and includes a hand towel. Maybe the water itself would have been better at a cheaper hotel? On the last day, we bought the classic Gero pudding as a souvenir and had a tempura bowl at a service area for lunch on the way back. There was a lot of traffic, so we shifted to the back roads halfway through. This time I chose to stay at Gero Onsen Kogawaya, once you enter the strong Japanese ancient style, the triple room is very large, and the view out is very good and comfortable. At least for dinner, there was fresh sashimi, fine snacks, and most importantly, melt-in-your-mouth Hida Wagyu beef. Have a delicious dinner and then go to the hot spring ♨️ cool! Recommended points ①There are five large baths, including a 100-tatami bath, the newly built hot spring spa "Sen", and an open-air bath, as well as nine wonderful private baths, so you can take your time bathing in the inn. ②It's right next to Gero Onsen town, so you can relax in the bath and then take a casual stroll to the hot spring town in your yukata. ③The Hida beef is so delicious that you can't finish it all. This time, we were served two types of Hida beef dishes, including Hida beef yakiniku and shabu-shabu, and we were full. The course we ate in the beautiful restaurant that had just been renovated was classy and delicious! ④ A wide variety of newly renovated rooms We chose a reasonably priced room, but it was a beautiful Japanese-style room with a nice view on the river side. It seems there are also rooms with hot springs and balconies, so I'd like to stay there next time. ⑤The breakfast buffet is delicious!
