NeYin Ancient Town (讷殷古城 nèyīn gǔchéng) is just so different than all the other ancient towns I’ve seen in China. The gate is decorated with bull’s skulls and the houses inside actually look modern (and it seems like you can book those houses to stay overnight!). Upon entering the area, you’d be greeted by a line-up of important figures of the area. Many involved in the area-dispute with Pyongyang, and others are Manchurian VIPs or the indigenous people. The Tree-God (that tall tree wrapped with red ribbons and God of Changbaishan (riding a tiger) are looking so mighty. The snowy path and are beautiful. Definitely worth visiting during your stay at Changbaishan! ————————— Getting There - take Taxi and ask them to wait for you (hard to call for other taxi from this place). We spent 1.5hrs there, roundtrip to Sheraton hotel (around 20mins ride one-way), paid ¥120. Attractions - ancient town. Good for some walk and photo-taking. Tickets - it was free when we visited. Hotels - Closer from Wanda Ski Resort’s area hotels. It would take more than 2hours from North Slope (Crowne Plaza), or stay inside this ancient town! Food & Restaurants - none that we saw. But also there was no other tourists when we visited. The ancient city of Neyin under the Changbai Mountain is one of the three Jurchen tribes of the Ming Dynasty. It is the site of the Jianzhou Nyin Yin Yin Bingcheng, the place of exile in the Nurhachi youth, and the birthplace of the Manchu teacher of the Emperor Kangxi, Fucha Ezeh. And growing up, the area is now repaired 230,000 square meters. Nein Ancient City is a relatively niche tourist attraction and one of the birthplaces of the Fuca clan, one of the Eight Banners of the Jianzhou Jurchens. The Fuca clan served as important officials for generations in the Qing court, with notable figures including Mazi and Fuk'anggan, although they belonged to the Shaji Fuca clan branch. Changbai Mountain has always been the ancestral home of the Jianzhou Jurchens. Many existing landmarks associated with their origins are fabrications by later generations. Only the ancient city on the banks of the Nein River retains many Manchu traditions, making it a living fossil of the original Manchu shamanic culture.
