I first saw the 1-1 food voucher on Lazada and decided to buy it to try so it only cost me $8 for the two dishes in the photos above. The char kuey teow is legit!! I was quite blown away by the char and the wok hey if the dish. The KL hokkien mee is nice too but the char kuey teow really took the centre stage that day. I will definitely be back to try the other Malaysian dishes in the shop as I think the baseline standard of their food is all quite good. The shop is quite small and cramp with indoor and outdoor seats. Food was served but chilli and tissues are self service. Staff service was okay. #urbanexplorer #foodie #singapore

Limited seating space and service can be improved. Of course, there’s a Fairprice there too if you want to cook Korean food at home. Haven't been to nex for ages, but when I recently when it WOW-ED me! There is a Japanese food street located at NEX mall, address: 23 Serangoon Central, #01-57, Singapore 556083. This is a neighbourhood mall that has been open for more than 10 years and has been very popular among locals travelling here from island wide as this place is convenient due to it being a bus terminal hub and also 2 MRT lines(Serangoon) passes thru here. With a floor space of more than 10,000 feet, it has specifically dedicated just to japanese restaurants, cafes and take aways where they have restaurants like yakiniki, shabu shabu, tepanyakki, Japanese desserts, sweet and more. Kudos to NEX mall also to make this place to not only have Japanese restaurants but look and resembles like Japan where the staff uniforms are somewhat like what you see when dining out in Japan. Address - #b2-50/51 Nex Shopping Mall Ambience - quick dining restaurant Average Price per pax - ~$16 Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chen’s Mapo Tofu is the lower-priced offshoot of Sichuan restaurant Shisen Hanten. There’s some opening promotion so it’s the best time to try out without paying a bomb at the main restaurant. There’s a queue forming but the restaurant was only 20-30% filled. I guess the cashier for order taking was really slow. We ordered the Plant-based Mapo Don and Noodles and chose the lowest level of spiciness. The food did not take too long to arrive. The Mapo tofu topping is quite generous and covered almost the whole plate. While the tofu is indeed smooth, it’s just too spicy despite just at level 1 spiciness. Got a moment I thought it’s “Mala” instead! My tongue became numb and I washed down a can of drink at one shot to stop sweating from the spiciness. Price - from $5.90 onwards Rating - 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 (good value for money) Continuing our hunt for vegetarian or vegan or plant-based or meat-free cuisine, I cannot forget Greendot. This is the first vegetarian restaurant which made me opened my eyes to good Asian-fusion meat-free food with wallet-friendly prices. While prices have increased over the years since I first tried them in 2014, I still find them reasonably priced today. They have 13 outlets and today we are at the Nex outlet. They also have promotion prices for students and senior citizens during off-peak period which makes it of even better value. Located at the 4th level of Nex shopping mall, Scarlett Supermarket, a store which sells groceries, beverages, snacks and other dried goods imported directly from China, has opened its latest 10th outlet in Singapore! The supermarket sells many interesting and value for money grocery items which are not available in most local supermarkets like NTUC and Cold Storage. They have a section which sells Hadilao ready made items great for steamboat sessions at home including sliced beef slices and iberico pork collar and even dipping sauces (2 for 1.60!). I also spotted my favourite instant milk tea cup (xiang piao piao) as well as other yummy dried beancurd and vegetarian meat snacks. If you like yogurt they have lots of different flavours available as well. If you are bored of getting the usual groceries, drop by and you wont regret it! #moreinsg

#traveldiaries Went to wan po tea shop and got some nice bubble tea to fix my bubble tea cravings. It is newly opened at serangoon nex. The store was quite crowded and there are seats available to dine here if you would like. I had the oolong milk tea with Oreo and it tasted really good. Suggest trying it out if you are by the area. They have lots of different tea and flavors as well. Super quick service too.

The restaurant is spacious, bright and clean. They served a variety of ramen dishes such as Shoyu, Spicy Miso and Creamy Tonkotsu Ramen. They also have side dishes such as Gyoza, Karaage and many more. The staff are helpful and friendly, you can seek them for recommendations too. Note: Free to access Good for lovers , singles, and family. A rooftop garden with a water play area is certainly a great addition to a shopping mall. The rooftop garden at NEX Shopping Mall has lots of colourful and beautiful water fixtures for kids to play and get wet. It even has this giant bucket of water, which will keep filling until full, and when it's full, all the water in the bucket will splash onto the ground. The purpose of that is to make you stand on the splash zone and get extremely wet. Other water features include a wet playground, smaller buckets of water that will spill water to the person standing underneath it, water spray fixtures, and water guns. the whole water play area at the rooftop garden at NEX is kid-friendly and colourful. So long as you open up your shoes and bring extra clothes, there will not be a problem. If you're into playing at the kids' play area, you can keep an eye out for your kids and sit down comfortably at the benches along the sides. Or, you can shop at the outdoor shops available at the level and visit the public library, which is just right beside the toilets and escalators.

Ordered the Duck Roasted with Ten Wonder Herbs, Roasted Char Siew, Steamed Fish Slices with Soy Sauce, Baby Kai Lan with Salted Fish & Lime, Homemade Seaweed Tofu, Spicy Seasoned King Oyster Mushroom. Added on the Pearl Rice Porridge. Had arrived slightly earlier so was entitled to the early bird discount. Nice food.

#singapore Foodpanda recently got an event held in NEX mall for panda riders and non-riders. I happened to visit the mall and saw that they have a booth to recruit new panda riders wherein each rider will get the rider pack consisting of the panda delivery bag and equipment needed. There is also a booth to sign up for bicycle rent for free when you join as a rider. Apart from that, there are some interactive games that the public can join. My favourite activity is the deliver like a panda game. Each person had to take the order to the customer within 60 seconds. We are given with an order receipt and then we had to check on the correct panda bag from the table, put this into the bicycle and start cycling for 30 seconds. Once 30 seconds is done, we had to shoot the panda bag to the correct pigeon hole and press the stop button. The participant is then give a stamp for completing the activity and a free panda pau pau. Love the pau pau so much! ❤️ Oh, and you can collect stamps from each booth. 3 stamps will entitle you to a bubble tea.

Decided to try local food Penang Culture at NEX mall. This restaurant serve typical Malaysia Penang street food. Ordered Hockkien prawn noodles and Fried Hockkien noodles. Both taste very good and similar to what I had in Penang. The decorations of this restaurant is average and nothing outstanding. The service staffs are attentive and provided good service. Overall is a recommended restaurant if you want to try some Penang food in Singapore.

Price per pax - $17 (set lunch) Rating - ✅✅✅✅✅ Walked past Pavilion Banana Leaf and there was no queue this time. In fact we will be their first customer for the day as they were about to open for business. We just spontaneously walked in and managed to get a nice table. The restaurant decoration reminded us of the upmarket restaurant we went to in India just outside the Taj Mahal park. Despite a public holiday, their set lunch is available. So we tried the vegetarian options. Love the accompanying sauces and condiments which they are generous with for their Thali set. Also ordered the Palak Paneer briyani/naan set. The palak paneer is really good. Rich and flavourful. We almost wanted to add another serving of naan if not because we are very full. Serving size is good to fill a teenage boy. We paired with masala chai tea and ginger tea. Tasty and authentic. Highly recommend. This place is ideal to host gatherings as they allow groups of 10 to gather for a good meal. We just saw a group with Chinese, Malay and Indians together celebrating a birthday lunch.
