But what Tübingen is most proud of is its academic environment. The University of Tübingen is well-known in Germany and even in the world. Famous German poets include Goethe, Schiller and Hölderlin. Hölderlin was a poet of the same period as Goethe and Schiller. It is said that his poetry level was no less than that of Goethe and Schiller, but he was in the shadow of the two literary masters and so seemed dim. He spent the rest of his life in poverty, illness and loneliness. Died in near obscurity. It was not until a hundred years later, at the beginning of the 20th century, that people began to recognize the value of his poetry. From then on, his old residence, the Hölderlin Tower, became a beacon of German literature and even world literature. It is no exaggeration to say that Tübingen is a place of outstanding people and beautiful scenery.
