🇸🇬Flower Blossom at Singapore National Orchid Garden 🌺
#flowerblossom #100waysoftravel
Visiting the National Orchid Garden within the Singapore Botanic Gardens was an enchanting experience, showcasing a stunning array of over 3,000 orchid species and hybrids. The layout is thoughtfully designed, with orchids arranged by different zones that echo the seasons, creating a colorful spectacle of reds, yellows, and purples. Highlights included the cool house with its rare, cool-climate orchids and the VIP Orchid Garden, where orchids named after international dignitaries grow, symbolizing Singapore's unique orchid diplomacy.
The garden is not only a visual feast but also a center for orchid conservation, featuring many plants from dedicated breeding programs aimed at preserving rare species. My visit concluded at the Tan Hoon Siang Mist House, where the fragrant aroma of award-winning orchid hybrids filled the air, underscoring the creativity and scientific effort behind orchid cultivation in Singapore.
The National Orchid Garden offers more than just beauty; it provides a deep dive into the botanical heritage and conservation efforts that protect these delicate flowers for future generations. It's a vivid testament to the intricate relationship between nature and careful cultivation.

Singapore Travel Recommendation | National Orchid Garden
The National Orchid Garden is definitely the most beautiful and special one among many botanical gardens in Singapore. Not many tourists know about it, so it's very niche and great for taking pictures!
Transportation🚇: The transportation is not particularly convenient, it is recommended to search for the National Orchid Garden on Google Maps. Usually, it takes 15-20 minutes to walk after getting off the bus. If you really can't walk, you can call a ride-hailing car (about 8 SGD) after getting off the bus.
Tickets🎫:
Locals (including work permit and student visa holders): Adults 5 SGD, Students 1 SGD. Singpass or permit card will be checked.
Tourists: Adults 15 SGD, Students 5 SGD.
Photography📷: The most comfortable and photogenic place in the garden is the indoor glass air-conditioned pavilion. After all, it's too hot to walk outside. There are all kinds of plants and flowers inside, and there is also water mist that can create a fairy-like atmosphere. It is recommended to choose a sunny day. The feeling of exploring light and shadow in the fantasy forest is great! Highly recommend the National Orchid Garden! It's definitely worth it!

National Orchid Garden Escape
As you enter the National Orchid Garden, you are immediately transported into a realm of vibrant colors and breathtaking displays of various types of different orchids - each named and comes with a short introduction, allowing you to get to know them just a little better.
The garden is meticulously landscaped and features several water displays, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere for many to enjoy. Make sure you also cater sufficient time for the themed areas that showcase different types of orchids that would be worth the visit.
Whether you are a nature lover, a horticultural enthusiast, or simply seeking a respite from the urban jungle, the National Orchid Garden promises an unforgettable experience that will leave you captivated by the wonders of the botanical world!

Love snapping picture at Singapore Botanic Garden especially at National Orchid Garden.. it’s such a beautiful place for afternoon stroll with family 🥰
Orchid is Singapore’s National Flower. Vanda Miss Joaquim was chosen as Singapore's national flower from among 40 other contenders, including some 30 orchids. For its resilience and year-round blooming quality, it was chosen on 15 April 1981 to represent Singapore's uniqueness and hybrid culture.
Tropical Montane Orchidetum
The tropical Montane Orchidetum simulates the experience of ascending through a tropical montane forest and showcases a diversity of orchids and other plants (e.g. bromeliads, gingers, tropical rhododendrons, gesneriads (and magnolias) from the rich low to high-elevation montane forest. Each of the display houses within the Orchidetum has been expanded beyond their original size, increasing by almost threefold the combined display area.
The Sembcorp Cool House
They preserved part of the original 260m2 frame of the original cool house and curated the orchid collection in the Cool House according to five biogeographical regions – Malesia, Continental Southeast Asia and South Asia, Australasia, Afrotropics and the Neotropics.
The Sembcorp Cool House is designed to emulate a high elevation montane forest, which exists at altitudes of 1,000m to 2,000m, and with a surrounding temperature of 16 to 23 degrees Celsius. Researchers will be able to study rare orchids that are naturally found only at higher elevations, such as such as Cymbidiums (also known as Boat Orchids), Dendrochilums (also known as Chain Orchids), Cyrtochilums and Phragmipediums (also known as Slipper Orchids). This will greatly benefit taxonomic and floristic research, as researchers will be able to grow rare species, before identifying and documenting them at a later stage when they flower.
Approximately 1,000 orchid species and hybrids are exhibited in the Cool House, together with new varieties from other plant families beyond orchids, an increase from the previous collection of 350 orchid species. Also growing among the orchids, are collections of carnivorous plants, begonias that have characteristic shimmering leaves that help them to thrive in areas with low light levels.

Name of Place: National Orchid Garden

Opening Hours: 8.30 am - 7 pm
An admission ticket is required to enter.
Whenever I am at Botanics Gardens, I love to go into the National Orchard Gardens it is a small garden with over 2000 Orchid species on the display. Within this Garden, the main attraction will be the Sembcorp cool house. It is designed to maintain the climate at a cool 16 to 23 degrees where the Orchid species thrives. This is also to simulate the High elevation montane forest where this orchid can be found. My favourite spot here is the VIP Orchid Garden where I could view all the special species of Orchids given by the Singapore Government to honour state visitors and other VIPs by naming the species after them.
This attraction is highly recommended for any nature-loving individual who admires plants and flowers.

Gorgeous orchids
Located within the Singapore National Botanical Gardens, this is a must see in its own right. It looks small from the outside but actually it's quite big.
Housing a plethora of orchid species, many native to Singapore only. It's quite a large area and takes some time to walk around and see everything.
One of the standout parts of the orchid garden are the unique species of orchid that are created for visiting dignitaries such as Obama, Princess Diana, Xi Jingping and so on. These are really interesting.
There is also a 'wet house' that's worth seeing to. Overall the orchid garden is a must visit if in Singapore. Cost 20 Sing Dollars

National Orchid Garden, Singapore
The National Orchid Garden's located on the highest hill in the Singapore Botanical Garden. It's 1859 when the garden at its present site was founded & laid out in the English landscape's style by an Agri-Horticultural society.
Vanda Miss Joachim is the first recorded orchid hybrid in Singapore & was selected as country's National Flower. There're over 1000 spicies & 2000 hybrids on display. They come in so many shapes & colours everywhere.
At the time I first visited with my Dad, we loved it so much so we repeated two visits in four day trip. This special trip trully inspired my Dad's orchid garden hobby!

Tropical Montane Orchidetum Singapore
#flowerlover
The tropical montane orchidetum is the most recent attraction within National Orchid Garden, in Singapore's very own UNESCO heritage site Botanic Gardens.
The glasshouses reminds me of a mini version of the domes in Gardens by the Bay, as the interior was kept cool and misty once in a while, great for both humans and plants alike to escape from the sweltering heat. Orchids of various colours, shapes and sizes thrive in these glasshouses.
Outside the glasshouses, there are also gardens and trails worth visiting as well such as the Golden Arches, which are a series of arches made of small yellow orchids; perfect for an instagrammable moment too!
Admission was free when I went previously; currently it is priced at 5 dollars for adults, 1 dollars for seniors and students, and free for children below 12. Nice alternative part of the Orchid gardens to admire the orchids!

A cool respite within Botanic Gardens
#exploresgtogether #floralfantasy #nature #attractions
The National Orchid Garden, located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, was opened on 20 October 1995.
It is a place for 60,000 orchid plants – consisting of 1000 species and more than 2,000 hybrids – is the three hectares of carefully landscaped slopes.
The design concept presenting the display of plants in four separate color zones: the spring zone with its prevailing colours of bright and lively shades of gold, yellow and creams; the summer zone with its major tones of strong reds and pinks; the autumn zone of matured shades; and the winter zone of whites and cool blues.
A careful combination of selected trees, shrubs, herbs and orchids (mostly hybrids) with matching foliage and floral colours depicts the colour combination. Meaning to say, you will definitely have an eye opening experience admiring all the national flower in it’s glory!
Tickets priced at $5 for adults and $1 for children (age 12 and above), highly recommended if you’re in Botanic Gardens!

Beautiful Orchids in abundance!
Last Saturday I took my nature walk at the National Orchid Garden - what a wonderful display of orchids. Plenty to see and a new indoor pavilion with air conditioning - tempting to stay there longer.
Singapore is surely blessed with a climate on which orchids thrive. This garden must be the work of immensely dedicated staff. Very photogenic - lots of photo opportunities.
