Free to enter the libraries in Singapore for everyone and don’t forget to join the as a library member to borrow their materials. All Singaporeans can sign up for a free library membership. For Permanent Residents have to pay a small fee. As long you have no intention to borrow any material then you do not need a library membership. You can enter the library and browse all books and publications in the area. The National Library is a prominent building and when I was staying at Naumi Hotel, the skyline with the sunset is a nice scenery.

National Library Memories
The national library located near bugis brings me back to my school days memories. We will always visit the former national library at YMCA area, which is the present Singapore management university building. I remember that in the past, there was no smu connexion tunnel. There used to be a bus stop there where we alight from the bus to reach the library. The white building library have 4 floor. Beside the former library is a coffeeshop where we will have our drinks there as the weather was too hot. We do enjoyed our childhood school days memories every weekends.

NLB celebrates national day
During the national day celebration event, the national library is filled with decorations. From the pillars dressed in mascots of Singapore , such as the arts museum, the Changi Airport, as well as the famous merlion mascot. There are also displays of other art pieces that look very impressive. The library is a place where you can borrow books or even spend your time reading those books for free within the library. If reading is one of your hobbies, then the national library is one of the places you must visit. The nearest mrt is at city hall and bugis train station. You can take a few minutes to reach there.

One of the hidden gems for tourists and locals is the state of the arts National Library at Victoria Street.
If you are 📖 book lover then you should visit this library. It has a wide collection and is a huge place to read. We as tourists also visited this National Library.Convenient location, nice conducive environment for reading and studying. But now Part of the library is under renovation.
Besides the lift, one can also take an enjoyable stroll and travel up the automatic escalators to the book section and take a scenic view of the bustling city below.

If you happen to be near Bugis or City Hall area, do check out the National library situated in the middle of these two stations. Featuring a library that is 16 levels tall, you will be pleased to know that they have more to offer than just books.
Check out the sky garden, a retreat area that offers you a view of town from the top, aside from the usual bars that allows you to do so.
Lockers are also offered at the library free of charge when you want to make reference to books at the library and not carry your bags around.
When you are hungry, they also have an in house cafe! Do check it out too.

View of NLB from Bugis+ Rooftop 📸
NLB always looks gorgeous because of the design!! I love viewing it from the bugis+ rooftop though, it's a shame Bugis+ rooftop isn't an attraction :(
The other two photos don't really show NLB but they are photos of the view from this beautiful and chill rooftop 🏙️❤️

National Library of Singapore - exhibitions
Mention "library", and one thinks of buildings with lots of books and reading corners. But not with National Library of Singapore, which is more than just a place for books. One of its latest exhibitions located at 1st storey, "Human Nature", showcases Singapore's history of relationships between, nature and human intervention. The exhibition features a range of natural history books, botanical prints, historic photos and maps from library collections and national archives. attractively curated, the multi media assemblage with sounds will enhance a visitor's experience. Entry is free, see it before it ends on 26 Sep 2021.

Book Haven: The Intellectual Journey of the National Library of Singapore
Stepping into the National Library of Singapore feels like entering a temple of wisdom. This towering building, with its sleek modern design blending into the city skyline, exudes a sense of calm that attracts every knowledge-loving traveler.
Inside, the spacious and bright environment is refreshing. Natural light pours through the glass curtain walls, and the shelves are lined with books from around the world, resembling an ocean of knowledge. In the reference section on the top floor, I perused a book on the architectural history of Singapore, where the city's development and cultural roots seemed to flow between the lines.
The most astonishing aspect is the coexistence of greenery and tranquility. The small garden next to the reading area, with its vibrant vegetation, perfectly integrates learning with nature. Here, knowledge is not just words on a page but a symphony of environment and mind. As I left, I felt that this library is not only an academic treasure trove but also a cultural beacon connecting the past, present, and future.

Went to the central public library located near bugis, bras basah. It was huge and the library was really nice and such a conducive environment to read books or study here. There are lots of books available for loan too. Do check it out if you’re by the area. There’s also kids books available so it’s super family friendly. Love coming here to read and study during my free time!

National Library / Lee Kong Chian Reference Library
#singaporetrip This is the largest library in Singapore. This building has a very nice and unique architecture. Great library building with multiple floors dedicated to different library functions. Level 7-9 and 11 are special reference libraries with good collections on various specialized topics and ample space for studying and reading. A calm and quiet place in the heart of the city, especially during the weekdays. The library occupies many levels in the building and offers plenty of comfortable seats and table spaces. There are just so many books here too!

Had the sirloin steak burrito bowl and mango salmon on the last day before Phase 2 kicks back in, have to say that we definitely made the right choice! Great ambience, food was amazing and seriously affordable (at $28 nett for 2 pax), staff were also friendly and accommodating, not to mention that we were given complimentary desserts at the end of our meal by a cool guy (didn't catch his name unfortunately!) Awesome experience, we'll surely be back soon :)

National Library The Retreat at Level 5
Note : Free Access
Good for lovers
Technically, the ones at the National Library are not located on the rooftop of the library. However, I still consider them as 'rooftop gardens' because of their location at a high level.
Both The Courtyard at level 10 and The Retreat at level 5 have beautiful and lush trees and plantations. One of them has audio and visual equipment, which can be used as an outdoor events space, whereas the other has a foot reflexology path, which can be used to relax one's feet.

My 2024 travel wish is to visit Holland. zi would like to try out their local food there and visit their local attractions and landmark there too. I hope to know more friends there who will be able to bring me around the place to be like a local there.
Located near the national library, you can visit the mall which has many pop up shops along the way. You can find mobile phone accessories and casing, as well as items such as socks there too. You can also buy shirts there for your friends there .

Singapore National Library
I have been into the old library located at Stamford Road when I was young but the new National Library is magnificant. From outside you can observe the structure of the building with a tower like viewing gallery located at the top floor. Will find a day to visit the place for a more detailed viewing and if you are in Singapore please do not miss it as the aircon inside is powerful.
Because Xiaotoutou has a good habit of reading, so every time I go there, if I have free time, I would like to take her to a bookstore or library to read a book. It is no exception to Singapore.
National Library is one of the largest and most advanced libraries in Southeast Asia. The main building is surrounded by glass walls, high ceilings and wind tunnels. The ventilation and lighting effects are very good. The top floor is There are also a number of sky gardens on the rooftop to beautify the environment and reduce the temperature of the building.
"My Tree House" designed for children is also set here, this is the world's first green library ",
tree house entrance is like a magic forest, with giant mushrooms And the cute little animals, the cute shape makes the little girl happy. Stepping into the children's reading room, a three-meter-high tree will come into view. This tree named "Knowledge Tree" uses more than 3,000 trees. Constructed from recycled plastic bottles, the tree body also uses environmentally-friendly building materials. The whole tree conveys the concept of environmental protection to the children. The design of the entire space is based on the theme of green forest. Each row of bookshelves is a small tree. The age of children and the language of the book are classified, and the reading area suitable for the little babies is a low mushroom shelf, which is convenient for the children to read. The little girl happily picks up the picture book she likes and climbs the tree house. Go to a corner and sit down and read quietly. In this childlike environment, children can plug in the wings of imagination.
