Nashan Geopark is one of the world's top ten volcanic rock column landscapes, a national AAAA-level tourist Attraction, and a national science education base. Nashan Geopark is located in Yuetang Town, Yizheng City, with an altitude of 146 meters. It is the second highest peak in the central Jiangsu region. According to geologists, Nashan was a shield volcano about 10 million years ago in the Neogene of the Cenozoic Era. Before that, this area, including Liuhe and even many places in Nanjing, was a vast lake basin and the bottom of the ancient Yangtze River connected to the sea. Later, due to the uplift of the earth's crust and volcanic eruptions, it gradually evolved into the current landform. The special thing about Nashan is that during the volcanic eruption, the hot lava was rapidly cooled, forming a large number of geometric basalt columns (about 1 million). Nashan has a main crater and 5 parasitic craters. Due to the former mining of sand and gravel, the continuous mine profiles around Nashan show intact volcanic eruption phases, overflow phases, central phases, as well as volcanic slag, volcanic bombs, faults, intrusions and other geological relics. Nashan Geological Park is divided into two tourist routes, the east and the west. The east route includes three areas: Dingcha Rock, Dashizhu, and the Geological Museum of "A Brief History of Time". The west route includes five areas: Yuhua Valley, Kunshi Slope, Guolao Creek, Huanjiayu, and Bailongquan. There are also recreational areas such as RV, barbecue, and camping in the park. Nashan Geopark takes unique natural geological resources as the core value of the park, and popular science research as the core product of the enterprise. The company aims to protect, study and utilize natural resources, and carefully build a "specialized, refined, special and new" natural resource popular science research base as its goal.
