Natural scenery
Located at the east entrance of the Aokigahara Sea of Trees, it is one of the representative lava caves at the foot of Mount Fuji, and is as famous as the Fugaku Wind Cave. Covered by ice all year round, the icicles formed by the freezing of water droplets from the top of the cave are a rare spectacle. The tunnel-shaped lava caves formed when the scorching lava flowed down the old parasitic volcano when the Nagao Mountain volcano, the side volcano of Mt. Fuji, erupted 1,150 years ago. In the 4th year of the Showa era (1929), the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Tourism designated these two caves as national natural monuments. The Narizawa Ice Cave is a vertical cave with a total length of 153 meters and an average internal temperature of 0 degrees throughout the year. Here, you can see natural wonders such as between ice, pools of water, icicles and basalt lava groups. Among them, the icicles formed by the frozen water droplets on the top of the cave are more interesting, and the special lava stalactites and lava trees of the lava cave can be seen on the top of the cave. The best time to see icicles is from March to August, and there are almost no icicles from November to January.
