Taicang Ultimate Travel Guide | No Tourist Traps
🌸 Shaxi Ancient Town = Free
The ancient town is quite large and not overly commercialized. It's very photogenic when the weather is nice. Snack recommendations: grass head cake, shredded radish cake, meat floss green dumpling, Taicang meat floss (specialty). Just wandering around, you can eat your fill.
🌼 Taicang Museum and Art Gallery are free, no reservation needed. The two are close to each other, so you can check them both out together. Remember that the exhibition halls close at 16:30, so plan your time well, or you might miss out! The museum has a large ancient ship, with exhibits on all four floors, which you can visit for quite a while. The art gallery is also very photogenic outside, with its clean white architecture.
🔥 Haiyun Dike Style Street = Free
It looks deserted during the day with few people around, but at night when the lights are all on, it's beautiful. Inside, there are European-style buildings and graffiti, great for taking photos, a bit like a cultural and creative district. There are many restaurants for dining, and it's quite nice to enjoy a meal with the lake breeze! It's recommended to come at night when the lights are beautiful~
🌟 Nanyuan = Free
A beautiful garden with lots of flowers and plants. It's said that it used to require an entrance fee, a 3A tourist spot, not much different from the popular gardens in Suzhou, and definitely worth a visit.
💫 Taro Ice Cream · Taicang's First 10r/bowl
Put this first, no need to say anything else, just go for it! Really delicious! I bought coconut ice with lots of toppings!
There's watermelon, taro, coconut ice, coconut slices, crushed peanuts, taro balls~
🔥 Egg Meat Burger 6r/each, consistently delicious
Plenty of meat filling, brushed with a layer of sauce on the outside, one word! Yummy!!!!
☁️ Northeastern Grilled Cold Noodles 8r/serving
The owner is from the Northeast, very enthusiastic~ The grilled cold noodles are sour, sweet, and fragrant~ You can add fire turkey noodles, I saw many people eating it that way!
They also have cabbage rice, which looks really tasty, and the portions are huge!

The mysterious divine tree in Olympic Forest Park makes a stunning debut, and the fringe tree sea awaits your exploration!
🌳 Hidden within the Olympic Forest Park are several divine trees, among which the fringe tree next to the Tingquan Pavilion in the South Garden is particularly eye-catching. It stands tall and straight, hidden in the lush greenery of the woods, filled with a mysterious aura, and at the same time, breathtakingly beautiful.
🌸 This morning, I personally went to the Olympic Forest Park to capture the beautiful moment of this fringe tree. It was in full bloom, with clusters of flowers, and the blooming rate is estimated to be over 70%, making it the perfect time for viewing! Come and experience this gift from nature!
📍 Location guide:
After entering from the south gate of the South Garden of Olympic Forest Park, turn left and walk about 700 meters along the track to the Ginkgo forest, then turn right and cross two bridges. After the second bridge, immediately turn left and go up the slope for twenty meters, after seeing the hydrangea, proceed another ten meters, and there you will find the legendary fringe tree (see the last picture for the exact location).
💐 In addition, there are several hydrangea trees nearby that are also in full bloom, forming a splendid view, complementing the fringe tree. Why not enjoy them together and take some beautiful photos?
Come to the Olympic Forest Park and have an unexpected encounter with this mysterious and beautiful fringe tree! 🌳🌸💕

The Nanyuan in Taicang is very beautiful🪴
The Nanyuan in Taicang really took my breath away!
Taicang, a small Jiangnan city often overlooked by tourists, has an excellent geographical location. It is right next to Shanghai, yet it remains quiet and tranquil, like a paradise on earth.
The first time I entered the downtown area of Taicang, it was already evening. I purposefully chose to visit Nanyuan for a stroll.
Having come to Taicang, I chose Nanyuan because I like gardens.
I always feel that in the cities of Jiangnan, a classical garden can represent the essence of the city. Nanyuan in Taicang, also known as Taishi Mansion, was built during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era by the then Prime Minister Wang Wensu. It was where Minister Wang planted plum trees and chrysanthemums and dealt with official affairs, and it was once the foremost scenic spot in Taicang.
Touring Nanyuan, it lacks a bit of the original charm of classical gardens, but the reconstructed garden is still very beautiful and pretty. The early autumn garden is lush with greenery, continuous lotus fields, and rippling pond waters. Walking around, there is also a sense of beauty as if leisurely roaming in a poetic and picturesque setting.

🌲A 60-year-old hackberry tree has been living by the small river in Nanyuan, nourished by ample water, with intertwined roots, showing vigorous vitality.
🍃The bamboo grove in Nanyuan is lush and dripping with green, towering into the clouds, with a quiet green charm, highlighting the bamboo's elegant and noble quality, creating a very beautiful artistic conception!

Nanyuan | A hidden treasure garden in Taicang
| A hidden treasure garden in Taicang.🍀 Nanyuan | Originally built during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, it covers more than eighteen acres. It was the place where the then Grand Secretary Wang Xijue enjoyed plum blossoms and chrysanthemums. Later, his grandson, the great painter Wang Shimin, expanded the garden and invited the master of rockery construction, Zhang Nanyuan, to oversee the creation.
The ancient and elegant architecture of the garden is complemented by the verdant lotus leaves, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. The pink lotus flowers scattered throughout add a lively touch.

Plum Blossom Season | Taicang Nanyuan, a hidden gem in the city's garden treasures
Who would have thought that there is a hidden treasure garden right in the heart of Taicang city
The fragrance of blooming wintersweet subtly fills the air
Taicang Nanyuan, a historic and cultural famous garden,
was established during the Ming Dynasty, originally as the private garden of Ming Dynasty chancellor Wang Xijue
Around the year 2000, with the renovation of the old city of Taicang, Nanyuan was rebuilt,
embodying the typical style of gardens in the south of the Yangtze River, its beauty is not at all inferior to those classic gardens in Suzhou!
Main buildings:
✔️Dahuan Pavilion Qin Tower
Praised by the guqin community as 'the number one qin tower in the world', the qin scores, conditions, and techniques of Xu Shangying, a representative figure of the Yushan qin school of the Ming Dynasty, are collected here.
The exterior corridor is particularly beautiful, winding and meandering, with stone boats and rockeries
✔️Xiu Xue Tang: Famous for Suzhou-style colored painting
✔️Xiang Tao Pavilion: The first floor displays wooden models of the 'Top Ten Scenic Spots of Taicang'
✔️Long Corridor: The beams of the long corridor are painted with scenes from 'The Injustice to Dou E', a representative work of Yuan Dynasty playwright Guan Hanqing, in 12 scenes.
✔️There are three pavilions in the heart of the lake, named 'Green Wave Pavilion', 'Zhan Feng Pavilion', and 'Cold Fragrance Pavilion' respectively.
✔️Bai Shi Xuan: Named after the rockery in the garden, the pavilion displays stone carving masterpieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
✔️Wang Hai Tower: The highest point of Nanyuan, offering a distant view of Taicang Port.
Many wintersweets are planted throughout the garden, and wild ducks 🦆 play in the lake
Walking in the garden, basking in the warm winter sun is very comfortable.

Taicang Nanyuan: In the gardens of the south of the Yangtze River, there is endless childlike fun
Taicang Nanyuan: In the gardens of the south of the Yangtze River, there is endless childlike fun.
Visiting Taicang and accidentally entering Nanyuan, I found it to be exquisite, small, modern, and characteristic of the south of the Yangtze River, bringing a lot of fun for children.
👉 Taicang Nanyuan
Taicang Nanyuan is located in the urban area of Taicang and is a relocated garden of the south of the Yangtze River. It originated from the Ming Dynasty during the Wanli era from the Grand Secretary Wang Xijue, serving as a place for him to handle government affairs and enjoy the elegance of plum and chrysanthemum.
👉 Rich Relocation Content
Although it is a relocation, the original architectural layout has been retained, and on this basis, some nice check-in spots have been added, such as the Loudong Garden Exhibition Hall, Family Style Museum, Lotus Breeding Base, Bonsai Garden, etc.
👉 Green Wonderland Check-in Spots
I originally thought Nanyuan was a very small garden with average content, but I was surprised after entering. Especially its green wonderland environment:
✅ Shamot Pavilion, surrounded by flat land and lakes on all sides, is a green wonderland;
✅ Zhijin Bridge, surrounded by water and bamboo forests, is lush with greenery;
✅ Xiangtao Pavilion, overlooking the entire garden from the ancient city wall, is comfortable and pleasant, with greenery all around;
✅ Qu Corridor, feeling the coolness of the green trees in the easternmost corridor;
✅ Nanyuan Restaurant, it's also a good choice to have some local snacks and afternoon tea here after coming out.
👉 Childlike Fun Check-in Spots
My child is two years old, and we chose this place to take some photos. Regardless of how they turned out, the environment is very photogenic, especially these places:
✅ Jiukou Bridge, with misty water reflecting the elegance of the south of the Yangtze River;
✅ Peony Garden, surrounded by greenery, bringing happy moments;
✅ Fishing Platform, water play fun, bringing endless childlike joy;
✅ Garden Exhibition Hall, hands-on experience, accompanying the child;
✅ Release Pond, lotus step, step by step joy;
✅ In front of the Loudong Study, a large park for taking photos.
👉 Cultural Learning Check-in
The garden contains 'Xiu Xue Tang,' 'Tan Ying Xuan,' 'Xiang Tao Pavilion,' and other attractions, each with its unique cultural connotations and historical background.
✅ 'Xiu Xue Tang' is one of the main buildings of Nanyuan, originally the study of Wang Wensu, with the hall name inspired by the 'embroidered snow pile' from 'Dream of the Red Chamber.'
✅ 'Tan Ying Xuan' is a great place in the garden to enjoy the scenery, and from the pavilion, one can view the entire garden.

The world's number one Guqin Tower
Dahuan Pavilion Guqin Tower
~ is hailed as the "world's number one Guqin Tower" by the Guqin world. The scores, conditions, and fingering of Xu Shangying, a representative figure of the Ming Dynasty Yushan Guqin School, are collected here. There are four major Guqin rooms inside, but unfortunately, the second floor is generally not open to the public.
The outer corridor of the Guqin Tower is particularly beautiful, winding and winding, with stone boats and rockeries, connected by caves made of stacked stones.
There is a hundred-year-old osmanthus tree in the courtyard. September is just the season of blooming, but unfortunately, the weather is too hot and the flowering period is too short.
As a native of Changshu at the foot of Yushan, facing such a world's number one Guqin Tower that highlights the glorious history of the Yushan Guqin School, a sense of pride arises spontaneously!

The park is arranged with the lake as the central axis, the scenic spots are distributed around, and the center is dotted with a jade belt bridge. The word "South Garden" on the gate is the book of Dong Qichang. In the south, a small rockery is piled up in the original Taicang ancient city wall. The lotus on the lake is shaken and swayed.
