My favourite budget friendly hotel I stayed at in Chiang Mai was the Nature Boutique. It had a good central location and the room was nice however the shared bathroom was a little disappointing. There is actually a lot to do in/around Chiang Mai, etc the sticky waterfalls, elephant sanctuary, water park, it is also just fun to drive around on the bikes as the roads are really good with nice scenery just outside of the city. The air quality is genuinely bad though - a lot of people wear masks but I believe it’s just because of the burning this time of year (end of March).
