"Iceland Volcano Geothermal Valley" Am I on Earth?
The second stop on the fourth day in Iceland~
🚙From Dettifoss waterfall to Námafjall Hverir volcanic geothermal valley
About 50 minutes🚙44.7 kilometers
The colorful ground of the Námafjall Hverir volcanic geothermal valley is the result of a variety of minerals and chemical reactions working together in a high-temperature environment.
The Volcanic Geothermal Valley area is a high-temperature geothermal area with many fumaroles and mud pools. At depths of up to 1,000 meters, temperatures can exceed 200°C. Steam in these areas contains fumarole gases such as hydrogen sulfide, giving it a characteristic sulfur smell. This area also produces large amounts of sulfur deposits. This sulfur was mined in Iceland over the centuries to make gunpowder.
When I entered the geothermal valley, I felt as if I had gone to another planet. Looking from a distance, I could see smoke rising from the surface. When I got closer, I could feel the hot mud pools and the strong smell of sulfur. I could clearly feel the place. The vitality of the land seems to be breathing.

The wonder of Iceland is that it has many "hot" active volcanoes and an endless "cold" big ice sheet. It is the island country that "Ice and Fire". The most natural thing I expect is "fire" and "ice." "The geological wonders." The Namafjall geothermal area is located at the foot of the Naamafier Mountain on the east side of Lake Mi. This large piece of grass that is not born and will always be hot, looks from afar, with rich ground and white smoke. At first, I think it would be a man-made chemical factory. When I came closer, it turned out to be water vapor emerging from the ground. Thick white smoke spewed out from the ground, forming a number of white plumes, and it continued to make a "beep" sound, and the scene was spectacular. There are also a lot of muddy gray hot pits next to it. The mud in the pit is tumbling and steaming, and the temperature is as high as 80-100 °C. In such a "high-risk zone", visitors can only walk on the road with simple guardrails. It is too close to the air outlet. People's skin may be burned at any time. If it is too close to the geothermal pit, it will fall into a high temperature mud. Into "Tang Pig". Every step is a thin ice, just like walking on the "hot pot", both thrilling and exciting, but also let me deeply feel the magical power of "Iceland Fire".
At the same time, the Naamafier Tropical has also been dubbed the most tasteful scenic spot in Iceland. You can not only see the spectacle of geothermal but also smell it. Like the taste." Because the underground is a natural hot spring, various minerals from the ground come out with the gush of geothermal heat.
