Historic buildings
Luoshan Temple is a temple located 4 kilometers north of Luoshan Beach with a history of 1300 years. Silla (57 BC-AD 935) was built by Master Yixiang (625-702) in the 11th year of the 30th generation Wang Wenwu (reigned 661-681). The temple has a seven-story stone pagoda, a bronze bell, and a rainbow gate. and other cultural heritage. Legend has it that Yixiang returned to China after studying abroad in the Tang Dynasty in China. He met the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva while praying, so he built a hall at the Bodhisattva's guidance and named it Luoshan Temple. Houluoshan Temple has been rebuilt many times, and the current building was built in 1953. Luoshan Temple enters the temple through Yizhumen and Hongnimen. Turning into the temple in front of the Hongni Gate, on both sides of the hall, you can see the earthen walls and black bamboos mixed with mud and stone and paved with tiles. Next to the bronze bell on the north side of Luoshan Temple Beach, there is a small back door connected to Yixiangtai and Honglian Temple along a path. Yixiangtai is a pavilion built on a cliff by the sea, where Master Yixiang once practiced meditation. Red Lotus Nunnery is an nunnery built by Master Yixiang on a seaside grotto. A hole with a diameter of about 10 centimeters was dug in the eaves of the Fatang, and the sea can be seen from here. Go to the right foot of the mountain via Yixiangtai, where there is a stone Buddha statue of Guanyin standing on the Shenxian Peak standing looking out to the sea. The Buddha statue is so huge that it can be seen even from the far away port of Wuzi.

Naksansa Temple offers beautiful views and a stunning temple! I visited for a historical tour because it's the place where the famous monk Uisang, whom I learned about in history books, stayed.
Below is an explanation from Naver Encyclopedia:
Uisang prayed for 27 days on the cliff to the east of Naksansa Temple to meet Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, but he could not fulfill his wish and was about to throw himself into the sea. At that moment, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva faintly appeared in a cave by the sea and handed him a wish-fulfilling jewel and a crystal rosary, saying, "You cannot see my whole body, but if you go up the mountain for several hundred steps, you will find two bamboo trees. Go there." That place is said to be the site of Wontongbojeon Hall. There are also auxiliary buildings such as Uisangdae Pavilion and Hongryeonam Hermitage, and this area is designated as Historic Site No. 495.
It's great to take photos in front of the Haesu Gwaneum Statue and the sea view from Uisangdae Pavilion. Truly one of the Eight Scenic Views of Gwandong. 👍👍
Parking costs 4,000 KRW, and admission is free.
There is a space at the entrance and halfway through where you can enjoy free coffee and cool dandelion tea, making it a nice place to take a break. It seemed like the staff were constantly cleaning to keep the temple clean.
As of July 24, it was hot and I sweated a lot, but it was a nice walk.😉

At the end of March,
while waiting for late spring, Naksansa Temple in Yangyang, Gangwon-do presented a special scenery thanks to the unexpected snow.
Along with the white snow that fell on the foot of Seoraksan Mountain,
the blue East Sea spread out below the cliff was a spectacular sight.
The view of the sea from the Uisangdae was spectacular,
but once you enter the temple, you can feel the tranquility and peace unique to traditional Korean temples.
As you walk around the temple grounds, you are sometimes offered a cup of warm tea.
The warm hospitality melted into a cup of tea made my heart feel at ease,
and made me forget about my daily life for a moment.
Naksansa Temple, where the sea and mountains, snow and tea, tradition and nature come together, was a place where I could stop for a moment and empty my mind even during a busy trip.
This is a travel destination that I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to experience Korean temple culture.

Naksansa Temple in Yangyang, Gangwon-do, Korea. Even if you're not religious, the scenery is stunning and worth a visit!
It's incredibly healing! This is the largest temple I've ever visited. The mountain and the vast ocean stretch as far as the eye can see. At the highest point, there's a huge statue of Guanyin facing southeast.
The main hall enshrines the Thousand-Hand Guanyin Bodhisattva, known for being very efficacious, making it well worth a visit.
From the moment I stepped inside, I felt a comfortable and healing energy. I'd love to go back again!
There are several rest areas offering complimentary coffee and tea. I happened to see a monk explaining things to some visitors and discovered that they offer templestay programs here. Spending a couple of days experiencing a templestay here would be amazing! I plan to try it sometime.
The only downside is that it's a bit far from Seoul, making it slightly inconvenient to get to.

It is a thousand-year-old temple founded by Master Uisang in the 11th year of King Munmu of Silla (671).
It is famous for its beautiful scenery overlooking the East Sea. There are many famous places where you can see the sea and the sun, such as the Haesu Gwaneum Statue, Uisangdae, and Hongnyeonam, so it is a good place to watch the sunrise or enjoy the ocean view. In particular, Uisangdae is one of the eight scenic views of Gwandong and is especially famous as a sunrise spot.
I liked the temple stay because I could listen to the monk's calm words, meditate, and find peace of mind.
If you go down after looking around Naksansa Temple, the Naksan Beach below is also pretty, so I recommend it :)
