On a clear, sunny day, we stepped into the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka. This beautiful place combines modern art with historical culture, featuring a diverse and creative array of exhibits from artists around the world. The spacious and bright gallery design allows visitors to immerse themselves in the artistic atmosphere. Notably, the design details of the museum are meticulously crafted, reflecting the special care taken in its construction. We were fortunate to catch Chiharu Shiota's 'I to EYE' exhibition during our visit. As soon as we entered the exhibition, we were captivated by the intricate red threads crisscrossing before us. Stepping into the gallery, we were immediately drawn to many more moving installation artworks. These threads, like invisible strands of fate, tightly envelop the entire space, seemingly depicting the intertwined memories and dreams within each person's heart. These lines carry the weight of the soul, connecting the past at one end and stretching towards the future at the other. Standing before the works, we felt those once-forgotten emotions being gently pulled back. Chiharu Shiota's works made us realize that every choice in life is invisibly connected to others, no matter how far apart, with unseen threads binding us closely together. As we left the exhibition hall, it felt as if we could see those invisible red threads hidden among the clouds, guiding us towards the future. This exhibition not only made us re-examine our inner selves but also helped us understand that, in places we cannot see, the stories of life continue to be quietly woven.

This simple and modern art museum opened on February 2, 2022, and features a pitch-black exterior. It was designed with the concept of a "floating black box." Visited the #OsakaNakanoshimaArtMuseum where not many people were. The exterior is a large black cube located between the buildings on both sides. It is quite spectacular and conspicuous from a distance. It is an art museum that displays contemporary art in Osaka. The special exhibition during the visit was the #木下佳通代 ’s works exhibition (5/25-8/28), and I am more interested in the next theme, the #醍醐寺 ’s National Treasure Exhibition (6/15-8/25). In addition to the big black cube of the Nakanoshima Art Museum, there are two mascots: a space cat on display outdoors, and a giant moon rocket cat indoors. They are very eye-catching and match the black cube quite well. The museum has five floors above and one floor below, with stairwells and floors crisscrossing each other. The cold metallic tones of black, gray, and white, coupled with a large amount of white space, give people the illusion of being in an alien space in the universe. It's quite cool to come and take a look! The entrance ticket office is on the second floor, and the first floor is the restaurant and selection studio. #Osaka Itinerary In the morning, I visited the Nakanoshima Museum of Art. This museum, which opened in recent years, attracts countless art lovers with its unique black cube architecture. The museum houses a large collection of modern and contemporary art works, ranging from Osaka’s urban memories to the exploration of Japanese aesthetics, and each exhibit tells a unique story. I strolled through the exhibition hall, surrounded by the artistic atmosphere, and felt the creativity and cultural heritage of this city. In the afternoon, I took the train to the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in Kobe. The museum building was designed by Tadao Ando. The simple concrete structure and the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea complement each other, showing an extremely harmonious beauty. The museum exhibits a wealth of modern art works, whether it is sculptures, paintings or installation art, each work is thought-provoking. I stood on the terrace, gazing at the sea and sky, feeling the beauty of the fusion of art and nature. At this moment, it seemed as if the whole world had become quiet and pure.

Part of the purpose of this trip to Osaka was to visit the Utagawa Kuniyoshi painting exhibition at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art. The space in the exhibition hall is clearly planned, and even if you don't understand Japanese, you can clearly find the ticket purchase location and arrive at the exhibition floor. The staff in the exhibition room were very patient (probably because there were fewer people at the time), and the exhibition hall was very clean and tidy. Although it takes a while to walk from the subway station, you can enjoy the exquisite scenery of Nakanoshima along the way. I think it is a very satisfactory choice to come to Osaka to see the exhibition.

Despite the time span, I could still feel the city's past struggles and glory. Walking through the ancient streets, I seemed to hear the echoes of history, as if I had stepped into that era. I savored the experience, feeling the city's deep roots in its historical soil, where the modern prosperity and past accumulation shine together, making Osaka an eternal presence.

Opened in 2022 on Nakanoshima in Osaka, this new art museum is a great place to spend half a day if you're at the Osaka citywalk. You can take the subway to near the Conrad and then walk over. No need to book in advance, you can just buy a ticket for the themed exhibition on site. When I visited, I caught the 'Parallel Lives' exhibition by Shin Miyake (which is probably over by now), who is particularly good at using wind for art installations, and his works can be seen at Kansai Airport in Osaka. #thingstodo I visited the museum without checking which exhibition was on display upfront. It happened to be one from the Tate museum, and because I am European (Italian) the kind of art displayed was nothing new, I’ve seen quite a lot throughout my lifetime. I was hoping to see some contemporary Japanese art, but that’s my bad since I haven’t checked their website. Still a nice exhibition, and I enjoyed the building’s architecture.
