The meltwater from Mt. Fuji flows into the underground impermeable layer. The water was filtered through the lava over the course of several decades, becoming crystal clear.
The representative spring water pond is Oshino Hakkai.

It was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's retainers at the end of the Sengoku period as a base for governing Kai.
