I have been to Kyoto 5 times and I am really impressed by the beauty of these old streets
There is a saying that "Kyoto is in Japan, but the real Japan is in Kyoto."
If you want to experience the kimono, then Kyoto is definitely the right place for you. The charm of the thousand-year-old capital can mostly be experienced in these old streets.
Pontocho
Pontocho is a narrow street that is bustling with people at night.
The lanterns are lit, giving this old street in Kyoto a unique feel.
landscape. There are pubs and restaurants of all sizes located here. A visit to Kyoto would be incomplete without a meal in Pontocho.
2Hanaminakaji
Japan's most famous flower street is also the essence of this place. It is a place where Japanese flower arrangement and tea ceremony flourished.
This is also one of the filming locations of the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha". When you come to Kyoto, you must wear a kimono and take a walk here.
3Ninenzaka Sannenzaka
Kyoto has a unique slope with many shops on the roadside. As long as you have time, you can find a lot of good things. There are wooden houses on both sides of the street, and the roads are basically paved with stone. There are many people wearing kimonos on the road. It really feels like walking into a painting.
Gion
With a history of nearly 300 years, the garden was the most prosperous commercial district during the Edo period. Gion is very quiet during the day, but it has a unique flavor at night. I recommend everyone to watch a traditional Japanese performance. P.S. Friends who come to Kyoto in July should not miss the Gion Festival, one of the three major festivals. The core area is at Yasaka Shrine.
Nishiki Market
This market has a history of nearly 400 years, with nearly 140 shops and stalls scattered along the street, selling everything from pickles, wild vegetables, egg rolls, Tsukudani, seafood, and takoyaki. Nishiki Market is also a must-visit place when visiting Kyoto.
6Kiyomizu-zaka
There is a cobblestone street in front of Kiyomizu Temple. In addition to tasting Kyoto snacks and shopping, you can also rent a kimono (the time-honored "Kunimoto Fabric Store" is here and reservations can be made in advance), wear wooden clogs, and experience authentic Japanese culture.
It is recommended to go to Kiyomizu Temple first, and then walk slowly down Kiyomizu-zaka to enjoy the Kyoto style more immersively.
Philosophy of the Way
Spring is even more beautiful. The cherry blossoms on both sides of the road are in full bloom. The entire road is like a pink ocean. Looking up, you can see the pink flowers with the blue sky as the background, which is very beautiful. When the cherry blossoms are blown down by the wind, the petals fall into the river, like a pink river. Walking slowly on the street can relieve the fatigue from a day's work.
