Must visit when traveling to Nagoya
Japan is fantastic for low cost educational children's activities. When visiting Japan one must visit Nagoya, more specifically Nagoya Castle
Nagoya castle and palace is another great example of that. Sadly the original palace burnt down during WWII, however the replica was constructed and is stunning.
The castle is an architectural masterpiece. A truly impressive experience

Must visit place in Nagoya - Nagoya Castle
I went to Nagoya Castle during the blooming of sakura and it was so beautiful. However the main tower is closed for renovation. Despite that, there are so many other things to explore around the castle.
The high walls and the buildings structure of the castle are well preserved and maintained. There are also beautiful parks and gardens within the compound. Overall a must visit when you are in Nagoya.
The admission fee was 500 yen for one adult during my visit in April 2023.

Nagoya Castle
Nagoya Castle was completed in 1615 by the Shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu. Topped with golden shachihoko, votive tiger-fish roof devices, and boasting the largest floorspace of any tower keep, Nagoya Castle and its magnificent Hommaru Palace were operated as a military facility. Nagoya Castle was Japan’s first castle to be designated a National Treasure. Even after wartime air raid destruction, it was deemed historically important enough to be designated a National Historic Site. Restoration work being carried out is returning Nagoya Castle to original condition. Most castle buildings were destroyed in the air raids of 1945, including the castle keep and the palace buildings. The current ferro-concrete reconstruction of the castle keep dates from 1959 and - before its closure in May 2018 - contained a modern museum with exhibits about the castle's history. The park surrounding the castle keep features two circles of moats and impressive walls with corner turrets. It becomes an attractive hanami spot during the cherry blossom season which usually peaks in late March or early April.

#awesomepic In 1610 Tokugawa Ieyasu ordered the construction of Nagoya-jo to solidify the Tokugawa authority in Owari (Nagoya and vicinity). The castle was completed in 1612 and Tokugawa's ninth son Yoshinao entered the castle in 1616 from which he governed over Owari. #awesomepic

This is my memory when visiting Nagoya Castle. A clean and full of historical value. Outside the palace also often held performances, telling stories about the golden age of the kingdom. All the palaces are located in a high place and from one of the palace windows we can see the vast city of Nagoya. Inside many ancient items and also high-value sculptures.
If you enter, don't forget to obey every regulation, for example there is a certain place that is not allowed to take photos.

The walk from Nagoya station was about 40 minutes. The entrance fee was 1000 yen for each adult. We reached at about 2 or 3 in the afternoon and it was not very crowded. There were tour groups who were arriving at the castle. The main castle tower was out of bounds so we went to the gardens and other parts of the castle grounds. There were vending machines all over and few stalls selling ice cream and souvenirs. A little further down, there is a row of shops selling more food. A great place and a must see in Nagoya! We followed the guide to seek out the historic and scenic spots in the castle. There are three corner towers and one can go up the towers. The best of these is the north west corner tower where one can see the water in the moat. Then one must also look at the main tower and its annex. We admired the golden shachi.at the roof. Due to restoration work, one cannot the main tower. Really disappointed. Then there is the Ninomaru garden to visit . Nice Japanese landscape garden. There is also a tea house in the garden. Then one must then proceed to visit the amazing Hommaru Palace. When we visited, there were many beautiful flowers on display. Amazing, beautiful and colorful !

Nagoya City is associated with Osaka Castle, and Kumamoto Castle is collectively known as "the three most famous cities in Japan." Nagoya Castle was built in 1612 by Tokugawa Ieyasu. It was destroyed by the Second World War and the surviving buildings were restored in 1959. The biggest feature of Nagoya City belongs to his more than 2,000 cherry trees.
Among them, the Tianshou Pavilion is the place where the Tokugawa family lived. It is accessible from the avenue on the right side of the main entrance. This is a five-story building with two sides of the roof and the female body of a golden animal head. . The interior of the castle tower has been renovated and its wooden structure has been unreserved and an elevator has been added. The museums set up in the castle tower show artifacts such as door paintings and weapons.
The current castle tower is a reinforced concrete structure that was rebuilt as a symbol of Nagoya after World War II. After half a century of baptism, the aging and earthquake resistance of the castle tower has once again become a problem. In order to solve this problem and let the world better understand the true value of Nagoya Castle as a special historical relic, Nagoya Castle Tower is carrying out the restoration of wooden structures.

Tracing History @ Nagoya Castle
This castle is another beautiful example of architecture and is filled with historical stories.
The original castle was destroyed by an air raid in 1945, but it was later restored to its former glory.
Around the castle, there are beautifully arranged gardens. We visited during the spring season, so there were cherry blossoms to admire throughout the area.

Nagoya day trip
#One-day tour in the city
Last year, Peach Airlines sold a one-day trip to Nagoya. The outbound trip was from Taipei to Nagoya at 02:25-06:30, and the return trip was from Nagoya to Taipei at 23:15-01:25. Because I had been to Nagoya before, I really wanted to challenge it. Look at day trips, they were probably crazy back then. After landing at 6:30 in the morning, I quickly took the μ-SKY Meitetsu to the city without waiting for my luggage.
The weather was very gloomy today, and it rained heavily. When I had lunch, I was about to fall asleep. I felt even more sleepy after eating. When I had afternoon tea, I really felt like I was out of body. I almost wanted to find a room in the middle. I slept in a hotel on time, and it was already four o'clock in the morning when I got home to use it. Sure enough, it's good to have experienced this kind of challenge once.

Breakfast: Coffee House Kako → Nagoya Castle → Lunch: Horaiken eel rice → Harbs Sakae Honten → Nagoya Station Shopping → Airport
Coffee House Kako:
Located near Nagoya Station, it is home-made jam served with Ogura red bean butter toast. The jam is made from fresh fruits. The flavor of the jam changes from time to time. The sweet and salty red bean butter and the sweetness of the fruit make it taste very layered and feel good. eat
Nagoya Castle:
The five-story, five-level underground building has two "Golden Eagles" decorations on the roof. Due to its aging and the earthquake resistance of the building, entry is closed. The famous ancient house castle below is also very spectacular!
Penglaixuan eel rice:
I really love eating eel rice. I have never tried it at this restaurant. This time I chose to eat at this restaurant. I ate at Atsuta Horaiken Main Store. It opened at 11:30 and there was already a long queue outside around 10:30. , fortunately we were the first batch to enter. I ordered the three-course eel set meal. The set meal comes with hot soup, pickled side dishes, and three courses of green onions, wasabi wasabi, seaweed, and bonito dashi. The rice is a huge bowl! ! I couldn't finish it, and the eel was not only on the top layer, but also in the middle. The whole thing was super satisfying. I thought the eel kabayaki sauce went well with rice, and the eel had a bit of a charcoal grilled aroma. , really delicious
Harbs Wing Main Store
This time I finally came to our store to eat cake. I was really looking forward to it. It was the cake I had been longing for. This time I had the signature fruit layer cake. It was indeed delicious.

Timeless Beauty and Golden Charm: Exploring Nagoya Castle!
My trip to Nagoya Castle was so exciting! As soon as I saw it, I was amazed by its grand design and beautiful green roofs topped with golden shachihoko (fish-like creatures). The castle looked like something straight out of a samurai movie!
Walking closer, I admired the intricate stone walls and strong gates. Inside, the castle was just as impressive, with traditional wooden floors and beautiful art displays. Every detail showed the rich history and incredible craftsmanship of the past.
Climbing to the top gave me a fantastic view of the city. Nagoya Castle’s stunning architecture and design made me feel like I had traveled back in time. It was a truly unforgettable experience!
