This establishment's ambiance was unfortunately marred by a patronizing attitude, particularly from a male staff member who do not wear glasses, and sported a slightly balding appearance, which may contribute to guests feeling unwelcome. This sentiment was echoed by other patrons in various reviews (check Google reviews). Moreover, cleanliness standards were lacking, evidenced by a metal-encased toilet roll holder which was found to be covered in dust when we uncovered the casing, which was all because of the toilet roll that repeatedly fell out due to improper insertion.
Soundproofing was inadequate, allowing traffic noise to disrupt the atmosphere. Further investigation revealed a faulty window seal, which, when brought to the owner's attention, was promptly addressed, albeit with the owner entering the room in outdoor dress shoes, detracting from the professionalism of the encounter. Additionally, the presence of cigarette odor on one occasion in the middle of the night suggested a breach of no-smoking policies by another guest or staff.
The early morning disturbance of water gushing through pipes or the operation of a washing machine on the fourth floor, likely by housekeeping, was disruptive to sleep. Furthermore, the positioning of the basin adjacent to the bed resulted in an incessant 'tok tok tok' sound from the drain, which necessitated the makeshift solution of pouring hot water down the basin to temporarily alleviate the disturbance.
In summary, while the establishment has potential, there is a clear need for improvements in staff demeanor, cleanliness, soundproofing, and maintenance to provide a more welcoming and comfortable experience for guests.
