7 Must-Visit Places in Beijing in Fall!
Beijing Fall Must-Visit Attractions:
1. Xiangshan Park: Xiangshan's red leaves have a long history, with layers of mountains and ridges, spectacular and beautiful. Every late autumn, the yellow and red maple trees on Xiangshan change color, making it a great place to climb and enjoy the red leaves in autumn.
2. Badaling Great Wall: As part of the Great Wall, Badaling Great Wall also shows a different style in autumn. Climb high and look far, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of autumn.
3. Mutianyu Great Wall: Fresh air, dense trees, and more than 3,000 meters of red leaf forest, you can feel the long history and profound culture.
4. Pofengling: In autumn, the mountains are full of red leaves, and the layers of forests are dyed, decorating the gorgeous autumn scenery. Climb "Eagle's Beak Rock" to enjoy the red Pofengling.
5. Laba Gou Primitive Forest Park: In autumn, the red leaves are colorful, and the primitive birch forest scenic area is known as the "natural oxygen bar."
6. Gubei Water Town: Autumn is getting stronger, and the leaves are turning red. The red romance woven by the five-leaf ground brocade outlines the whole splendid autumn scenery of Gubei Water Town.
7. Hongluo Temple: Nearly 600 hectares of red and colorful leaf forests are covered with colorful clouds, forming a solemn, gorgeous, and interesting autumn scenery of the ancient temple.
These attractions are great places to enjoy autumn in Beijing. I hope you can enjoy this beautiful season.

Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China in autumn is stunning
If departing from Beijing, most people tend to visit Badaling as it’s closer to the capital. However, I chose Mutianyu for a less crowded experience.
Mutianyu is one of the most well-preserved and picturesque sections of the Great Wall of China, located about 70 kilometers northeast of Beijing. I booked a tour from Beijing that offered both English and Chinese language options, as I was traveling solo at the time. The tour departs early in the morning and gives you the option of taking the cable car both ways or just one way. Lunch was not included. I opted to take the cable car up and walked down on the return.
Mutianyu is especially stunning in autumn when the surrounding mountains are blanketed in vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. Even though I arrived in early November, which is late autumn, I was still able to see the mountains covered in beautiful colors. It was amazing! Be sure to hike from Watchtower 1 to 20—Watchtower 20, also known as the "Grand Corner Tower," offers the most panoramic views of the colorful landscape and is definitely worth the steep climb.

Mutianyu Great Wall: A Scenic Escape from the Crowds
#autumnseason
The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, located just 70 kilometers from central Beijing, offers a stunning and less crowded alternative to the more tourist-heavy Badaling area. Known for its picturesque scenery and well-preserved watchtowers, Mutianyu is a great spot to experience the majesty of the Great Wall while enjoying breathtaking views of lush forests and rolling hills. Whether you’re hiking along its winding path or taking a thrilling ride down the toboggan, Mutianyu provides a perfect blend of history, adventure, and natural beauty.
Travel Tips:
* Arrive Early or Late: To enjoy a quieter experience, visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The lighting is also ideal for photography during these times.
* Take the Cable Car or Chairlift: If you want to skip the initial steep climb, opt for the cable car or chairlift, which take you directly to the wall. For a fun descent, take the toboggan down—an exhilarating way to end your visit!

A childhood dream completed!
Ever since I was a young boy I dreamed of walking on the great wall of China. I had saw the wall in photos, paintings and books but never thought I would be able to go myself.
A visit to Beijing put me within a stones through of the Great wall of China. I booked a tour to the Mutianyu section and felt like a child at Christmas, filled with excitement. The night before my trip I received a phone call saying my tour was cancelled. Due to the heavy rain that night the wall would be closed. I was so disappointed.
In the morning, with the help of friends from Beijing, I decided to make my own way to the great wall. Even if I couldn't get on the wall, maybe I could see it? A subway, a bus, a train and a taxi journey later, I approached the Mutianyu visitor center. To my luck, they had opened just 1 hour before hand. I COULD WALK ON THE WALL AFTER ALL!
I chose to hike to the wall instead of the cable car. The long sweaty hike took me 30 minutes, before I saw the wall through the trees.
I ran the last few metres, and finally, after everything, I was stood on the great wall of China! I was overcome with emotion. I was so incredibly happy! What made it even better was that due to the Mutianyu section only just opening, the wall was not busy, with few people!
I walked for hours on the great wall of china and loved every minute. I recommend it to everyone!
The experience also taught me that there is always a way to achieve your dreams, even if there are obstacles on the way.

The Great Wall in Mutianyu!
🚌 I visited the Great Wall at Mutianyu. I went with a company called Mubus. They were amazing! For 150rmb, they provided a bus to and from the Great Wall, as well as covered ticket prices for entry. For additional costs, you can choose to toboggan down the wall!
🎋 I went in early March, which I highly recommend. It was quiet and still, allowing for perfect pictures and a much more laid back experience. While you may not have the lush greenery that surrounds the Great Wall during the summer months, there were many upsides to going off season. In addition to it being less crowded, it was also much cooler than it would be in the summer.
✨ The Great Wall really is so special and I am so happy I got to see it and hike it. This piece of history is so amazing!

Great Wall of China
#chinatrip We took the bus from Beijing up to the Great Wall starting at about 7am, hoping to beat the crowds. It was still crazy busy, but at least the morning weather was good for the climb. At the entrance, there are a bunch of shops selling food and souvenirs. There are even a couple bear habitats. From there, we opted for the "toboggan" to take us half way up, to the Fourth Tower. And then the real climb begins. To get all the way to the Eighth Tower is quite the climb. There are uneven steps, and smooth paths, sometimes reaching about a 45degre slope! It was really neat to see and the views are spectacular. Coming down was easier but still difficult in places with uneven steps and such. Overall, it really is a must see, but be prepared for the workout!

Mutianyu 慕田峪长城 ⛰️
Mutianyu (慕田峪长城) is one of the best-preserved and most picturesque sections of the Great Wall of China. It is located in the mountains 70 km northeast of Beijing. I liked this section of the wall much more than Badaling (八达岭).
You can get here with a tour group or on your own. If you're going independently, you need to get to the Dongzhimen Public Transport Hub (东直门交通枢纽), take bus 916块, get off at the final stop Huairou Beidajie (怀柔北大街), cross the road, take bus H23, get off at Mutianyu Huandao (慕田峪环岛). Then walk back a little and you'll see the entrance to the ticket offices.
Before the entrance to the wall, there is a parking lot, souvenir shops, and cafes. You can buy a ticket for the cable car and ride it to the 14th tower, then walk in either direction. I also recommend buying a ticket for the toboggan ride down from the Great Wall. It costs 100 yuan.
The wall itself runs along the mountain ridges, rising to a height of 1,000 meters above sea level. The views are simply stunning - endless crenellated walls wind along the mountain ridges, disappearing into the distance. It's especially beautiful here on a clear day.
Walking along the wall is quite a challenge due to the numerous steps and steep climbs. But the effort is worth it - the sight of the ancient stone structures, shrouded in legends and history, is mesmerizing.
Overall, Mutianyu left an indelible impression on me. It is one of the must-see attractions when visiting Beijing and China. I recommend setting aside at least half a day to leisurely stroll along the wall and enjoy the views.

Slide down the Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China, a world wonder with over 2,000 years of history, is a must-see attraction, stretching over 3,000 miles across northern China and standing as one of the most impressive ancient structures in the world.🏳️
There are many sections of the wall you can visit some restored and others not including:
1. Badaling
2. Mutianyu
3. Jinshanling
4. Juyongguan
5. Gubeikou
6. Jiankou
Badaling is the most famous one. As a result, it is often very crowde and unpleasant. Through me experience the most fun section to visit for the first time is the Mutianyu section.
Mutianyu Great Wall provides stunning views of the Great Wall and nearby hills with fewer tourists compared to Badaling.
It also offers an exciting toboggan run to slide from the Wall's top to the hill's bottom. Yes, slide your way down from the wall. 😮
Hiking Plans:🎿
1. It has 23 watchtowers, and hiking the entire trip takes about 4 hours, requiring excellent physical strength.
2. Most tourists opt to take the cable car to tower 14 and hike a portion of the trail before descending by cable car or sliding down from tower 6.
Wheelchair-friendly:♿️
There is a cable car for wheelchair users ascending the wall and ramps to a platform below the 14th watchtower, from which you can appreciate the beautiful scenery from the Great Wall.
Prices and timetable:💰⏳️
Opening hours summer: 7:00 - 17:00
Opening hours winter: 9:00 - 16:30
Ticket: CNY 40
There are two ways to go up and down the wall:
1. Cable Car:🚠
Take a box cable car up to the No. 14 Watchtower.
Single Trip: CNY 100
Round Trip: CNY 140
2. Chairlift / Toboggan:🛝
Take a chairlft to the top and the toboggan down from No. 6 Watchtower. (RECOMMENDED)
Single Trip: CNY 100
Round Trip: CNY 140
How to get there (around 1.5 hours from Bejing):
1. Taxi-Didi:🚖
Price: CNY 210-260
Time: 55 minutes
2.Train+taxi:🚆🚖
There is no direct train, but you can take a train from Bejing Railway station to Huairou. (About CNY 12.5, time needed 1 hour) and then from there you can take a taxi. (Needs 20 minutes and cost around CNY 70-90).
3.Bus:🚍
There are many buses that go close to the great walls, like 916 and 867.
Price: CNY 16
Time: 2.5 hours
4. My Recommendation:👔
Traveling alone may cause troubles like language barriers, queuing for tickets, and finding the best routes.Taking public buses in China's countryside is challenging due to overcrowding and lack of English communication. I suggest that taking a group tour is cheap and convenient. There are unlimited choices of tours in the Great Wall. Trip.com tour is one of the best of those choices.

Journey to Great Heights
As we arrived at the entrance of the Great Wall Mutianyu section, anticipation filled the air. We eagerly boarded a cable chair, we hopped on a cable chair that whisked us up the majestic mountains, revealing a breathtaking panorama. The view from the walls was nothing short of extraordinary, with the beautiful mountains stretching as far as the eye could see. The intricate architecture of the wall fascinated us, a testament to the ancient craftsmanship. To descend the mountain, we embarked on an exhilarating toboggan ride, gliding down on a chair slide that felt like a thrilling rollercoaster adventure. After reaching the bottom, we made our way back to the hotel, savoring a delicious Subway meal that perfectly complemented the unforgettable experience of exploring the Great Wall of China.

The spring color of Mutianyu Great Wall
People said traveling to China isn’t complete without visiting The Great Wall of China. It is also on my top list destination in China. I chose Mutianyu section is because it’s the longest and has the best views during spring time, also this section had just finished being restored. It may less crowded compare to Bedaling section tho but Mutianyu has more breathtaking views. I traveled with Mubus Mutianyu then go uphills by cable cars and downhills by toboggan. Definitely moment of a lifetime.

Thrilling Fun at Mutianyu Great Wall Toboggan
The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China is famous for its stunning scenery and historical significance, but it's also home to a unique and exhilarating attraction - the toboggan ride. The toboggan area is a fun-filled way to experience the Great Wall in a way that's sure to get your adrenaline pumping.
The toboggan ride begins at the top of the wall, and you'll glide down the winding track, taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The ride is suitable for all ages and abilities, and it's a great way to enjoy the scenery while having a little bit of fun.
The track is well-maintained and the sleds are easy to control, so you can ride at your own pace and enjoy the scenery. You can go as fast or slow as you want, and the ride takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. It's a unique and unforgettable experience that you won't find anywhere else.
Overall, the Mutianyu Great Wall toboggan area is a must-visit for anyone looking for a little bit of adventure and fun. It's a great way to experience the beauty of the Great Wall in a way that's both exciting and unique. The ride is safe, easy, and suitable for all ages, so be sure to add it to your itinerary when visiting Beijing.

Great Wall Heroes 🙌🙌🙌
Great Wall Heroes 长城好汉 Enemy tower N20, 748 meters above the sea.
We chose to go to Mutianyu because less visitors and tourists come here as this part of the wall is located more far away than Badalin Greta wall.
And we were never disappointed.
The view is breathtaking. Mountains are huge. The line of horizon seams so close that you think you can touch it.
Wear comfortable shoes and go go to explore!!!!

Beijing - Great Wall of China
This was one of the most amazing visits of my life. I have always wanted to visit The Great Wall and I was not disappointed!
I decided to visit the Mutianyu section of The Great Wall as it is restored and not as busy as other sections. I visited in January and therefore it was off-season and opened at 8am. I got a taxi from downtown Beijing and the drive took about an hour and a half. I made sure to arrive at exactly 8am and because of the weather (very cold and snowy) the attraction was almost deserted. Getting a ticket was very simple and cost me 120rmb for admittance, the shuttle bus and the cable car journey.
After getting off the cable car, I was ready to explore the wall. Workers were toiling to remove snow from the steps but I was so early I managed to enjoy the whole morning with a wall covered in snow! To walk the entirety of Mutianyu, from left to right, it took about 5 hours. It’s a big walk with lots of steps so I would not recommend if walking is not your thing. The views were unparalleled and the sheer size and design of the wall is incredible.
You can take the cable cars back down with your ticket or, if you would like, you can pay 100rmb to take a toboggan or open cable car down to the base. There are lots of restaurants and little shops at the bottom and it was very easy to get a taxi back to downtown Beijing.
Overall this was an extremely enjoyable trip, a once in a life time experience and the best way I could possible think of to spend my New Year break.

The Views of Mutianyu Great Wall
Visiting Mutianyu was such a special experience! We went just before spring festival and it was super super quiet. This meant that we had a chance to really appreciate it and take in the spectacular views. Absolutely stunning.
When you visit Mutianyu I suggest you stay at a hotel in the village. We stayed close enough that we were able to just walk up to the cable car. You can also ask your hotel to help you to buy tickets, so when you get there you just show your passport.
You will have two choices to go up: cable car or walk. I highly recommend taking the cable car.
Be careful! There are two cable cars! If you take the wrong one, you will have a very long journey of big stairs up up up! So be sure to take the second cable car as you walk up (they are black and orange).
When you get to the top you can go in either direction. I recommend going to the right…most of the stairs go down. It’s still challenging, but doable even for a low fitness level.
When you get to the end there will be some shops, but again be careful! I got charged RMB90 for some tea and an ice cream!😂
THEN, I highly recommend taking the slide down. It is so much fun! You can buy the tickets there.
I hope this helps some of the nervous travelers out there.
PS. If you don’t stay in the village you will also have to take a bus up to the cable car.

The Great Wall of China.
We traveled to the Great Wall of China expecting and very busy busy with lots of lines, however this is the complete opposite to what we experienced. By travelling in January on a weekend before CNY we arrive to see no one else on the Wall. the ride from central Beijing took about 1.5hrs which was organised by our hotel. We then spent around 4 hrs walking the 20 watch towers which were open. Then got the the slide back down. Bucket listed ticked##2023travelwish

Great Wall MuTianYu is really great !
After 6 years of living in China I got time and energy to visit The Great Wall.
I did not have any expectations of my trip even though I heard lots of different opinions ..
what can I say ??
I LOVED IT 😍😍😍
Yes it is a bit far from Beijing , me and my partner took a cab to get there ( cost about 300rmb) and it took us about 1,5 h.
( By the way when we were going back we used buses that took us about 2-2,5 hours and cost just about 50rmb for both of us , you can use this option if you’re in budget)
The tickets for entrance cost us 150 rmb for both ( we bought it in trip.com)
my feelings and emotions of the Wall:
- I was amazed by the size of it , imagining that it was build by people gave me sort of goosebumps..
- open cable car was pretty scary ( it was my first time plus I am afraid of heights, my partner was enjoying the view and himself though)
- the views are breathtaking 😍I took lots of pics and videos
- we went there in August.. and well who was in China in summer knows how hot it can be, be ready to sweat a lot 😃
- I love working out so I enjoyed hiking and walking. #2023travelwish #mytripvlog #beijing #beijingtrip

Autumn at Great Wall of China!
#fallingforfall Great Wall of China is one of the places I admire. Not just the history itself but the structure and the hardwork that people had put to build this border walls. In Autumn, The Great of China is more beautiful to look at since it's on top of the mountains surrounded with beautiful trees. The leaves turn into yellow, red and oranges which make it worth the visit in this season. I took some photos while we were in the cable car going to the top. I was just fascinated by the colorful scenery. We also waited for the sunset when we were there. That was nice!

The Great Wall of China 🏯🇨🇳
When we speak about The Great Wall of China. We don't only speak about stones and history. This place served as a vital military strategic point from ancient times. This is not just an ordinary place, this is officially one of the seven wonders of the world. What I can say about this place when others already said it? Stunning, breathtaking views from every angle where you can enjoy spectacular nature.
This place gives that amazing real ancient culture vibe and when you walk here you have a feeling that you are an important part of ancient Chinese history. I visited a section called Mutianyu Great Wall which is one of the most famous sections for tourists to visit. What is interesting facts about this place is that woods cover over 96% percent of the total scenic area.
To come to this Mutianyu section, the best way is a car and it will take you an hour and a half from the city center. To experience this place in the right way, I recommend that you should stay the whole day, ideally to get there in the early hours of the morning so that you have more time for enjoying, hiking and sightseeing.
To get up on the wall, you can use two ways, stairs that are the hard way or gondolas that are chilly because you can enjoy the most beautiful landscape. Also, when you need to climb down you can use the stairs again or you can go with slides down which is more fun. Sightings and hiking are the main activities, taking photos and checking out many watchtowers on the road.
Even if you are solo travel you don't need to worry, you can meet likable people there and hear some cool stories. When you come to Beijing, you can't miss this legendary place, and when you visited you will have the desire to come back again. 👀🏃✌️

The Great Wall Mutianyu Beijing China 🇨🇳
One of the wonders of the world happens to be located right here in Beijing. The Great Wall is a marvel of human feats and can show what is possible through collaboration.
To get to this part of the Great Wall, take the bus there, and then take the ski lift to the top of you are not one for hiking.
The view from the top is beautiful including the towers that one can see out of after taking the stairs to the top of the post.
There is also a toboggan ride down on this side of the Great Wall that I highly recommend because it is extremely fun!
This destination will easily be the most recommended destination I can give. It is one of the best of all time.

4am WildWall hike with historians
We were collected from Sanlitun by car and drove for just over an hour to get to the Barracks where we would be sleeping.
After some drinks, nibbles and chat we settled down to a phenomenal dinner and then to bed for an early night.
At 3:30am we were awoken with a gentle knock on the door and after a quick croissant and smoking cup of coffee we were off with William’s sons, Jimmy and Tommy. The hikes offered were nothing short of amazing and the views were the best we had ever seen from the Wall. In total there were 3 hikes.
The accommodation at the Barracks was simple but perfectly fitting our environment. The real gem was the conversations had during the hikes and during our off time where you can talk with William Lindsay and his family; a family of historians and fountains of knowledge about the wall.
Fresh, excellent, homemade food provided as part of the package cooked on site and served piping hot. The breakfasts were amazing and the coffee strong and full-bodied.
William has several of his books available for purchase and I would recommend every single one to gain a better insight into the Great Wall of China. #greatwallofchina #wildwall #history #beijing
