Museums
The Museum of Tomorrow is a newly completed large-scale museum. The entire building is like a future spaceship, which is very futuristic. It is located in Guanabara Bay, the second largest port in Brazil. The project is part of a larger revival plan for the Porto Maravilha neighbourhood near the harbour. 1. Venue Design In the preliminary design, the design vision was to add a plaza outside the museum, which would create a more cohesive urban space, reflecting the large-scale transformation of the community. The museum buildings are arranged in a north-south direction, perpendicular to the harbor. This emphasises the horizontal lines of the design, including the large truss roof covered with solar panels. The roof is supported by curved white rib frames. Above the entrance is a semicircular window. Water from the harbour is used to cool the building and flows to large reflecting pools at either end of the museum, before flowing to the sea. 2. Architectural style The shape of the building has a typical Calatrava style, a high degree of coordination between structural beauty and formal beauty. The works of this master architect from Spain cannot often be described as dreamy, and science fiction and the future are the essence of his works.
