To meet him on Children's Day, I traveled thousands of miles
I heard there was an amazing exhibition opening in Shanghai during the Dragon Boat Festival and Children's Day—the #LittlePrinceMemorialArtExhibition—so I rushed from Guangzhou to Shanghai.
🌈 If it's your first time in Shanghai, you can ignore this post. If you're looking for introductions to must-visit attractions like Yu Garden, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, or the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, please skip ahead. What I want to share is a travelogue or guide perfect for weekend getaways, relaxation, and discovering the city's finer details.
🌟 Ramblings (itinerary) begin (schedule at the end)
Of course, it wasn’t literally 10,000 miles from Guangzhou to Shanghai—just over 1,400 kilometers. But my heart raced with anticipation to see him again.
I arrived by train in the early hours and just wanted to collapse into bed. But where to stay? Then I looked up and saw the words "Shanghai Jing'an Resort Hotel"—wasn’t this part of the InterContinental chain?
🏡 Accommodation
👉 Lucky for me, they still had rooms available during the holiday. I checked in quickly. Choosing a chain hotel isn’t about looking down on budget options—it’s about the guaranteed quality in environment, comfort, cleanliness, facilities, and service.
🚶 After a night of "recharging🔋," I woke up refreshed. After a hearty buffet breakfast, I headed to ➡️ the Little Prince Memorial Art Exhibition.
🚗 Transport: The exhibition is reachable by metro from the hotel (Line 4️⃣ to Line 6️⃣).
🏠 Address: Building 7, EKA·Tianwu (an old factory complex)
🌟 Exhibition highlights: It was a meeting of "love and light," like reopening *The Little Prince*. I met him in the "Sahara Desert🏜️," with the "vain king," and the "drunkard who drank to forget."
🍽️ Dining
👉 After the exhibition, I was hungry. EKA·Tianwu is a great spot with plenty of delicious options, such as:
🍃 LENBACH Lakeside Bistro: A fantastic place for Spanish paella and German pork knuckle, paired with craft beer🉑. Sitting by the pool elevates the dining experience⬆️, and if the fountain happens to be on—oh my, the romantic atmosphere might just outshine the food [happy].
🪲 There’s also Firefly Space·More Than Coffee, where the coffee beans are excellent, and the French imported ice cream is delicious. I especially loved the second-floor view [heart].
🚶 Continuing the journey
👉 Full and satisfied, I wandered near Suzhou Creek. It’s close to the Shanghai Sihang Warehouse Memorial, the real-life setting of the movie *The Eight Hundred* (remember to book ahead—it’s free!). After reflecting on wartime history, I strolled east along the riverside promenade. The Shanghai Postal Museum, recently renovated and fully reopened, is another gem. Along the way, you’ll find the Waibaidu Bridge’s twin (Wuzhen Road Bridge). Tired? Sit by the river with coffee and watch boats pass by as the day ends in the glow of city lights🔚.
🚶 Early on the third day
I debated between local Shanghai breakfast and the hotel buffet—the latter had so much to offer.
Then—off to Disneyland!
