Da Nang | Cham Museum
| Cham Museum. The Cham Museum mainly showcases Cham stone and ceramic sculptures from the 7th to 15th centuries. The Cham people once established a powerful kingdom in central Vietnam, which gradually declined and became one of Vietnam's ethnic minorities. To be honest, there's not much to see in this museum; it's relatively small, so just consider it a way to pass the time. The museum is located right at the head of Dragon Bridge, making it easy to find.

Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture
#danangtrip An amazingly cool collection of Cham sculptures and other artifacts. If you're into archeology and Eastern/Oriental arts, you'll have much fun and spend at least an hour here as I did. Very beautiful authentic pieces, few people, nice collection of photos about excavations and building the museum, cool historical building. Highly recommend.

Vietnam Travel|Danang Cham Sculpture Museum-Lost Indian Civilization
Danang Cham Sculpture Museum🏛️
Vietnam has been two countries in the north and south since ancient times, and the assimilation of the Cham people in the central and southern parts by the Vietnamese in the north is a long process. From the first appearance of the 'Champa Kingdom' (equivalent to the Tang Dynasty in China) to the unification of Vietnam in 1975, it took a full thousand years.
This process is much later than the assimilation of the 'Central Plains people' to the 'South China people' 'Zhuang Dong Miao Yao' in China, and therefore the north-south difference in Vietnam today, in a certain sense, is even greater than the north-south difference in China.
The museum was established in 1915 and opened for the first time in 1919. Many Cham sculptures collected in Danang, Guangnan Province, and My Son Sanctuary were brought here. The building was designed by two French architects M. Deleval and M. Auclair, who used some traditional Cham elements in their composition.
At present, the museum is the largest collection of Cham sculptures in the world, and there are too many shots to show one by one. In general, I personally feel that the Hindu culture of Champa is a combination of 'Khmer Hinduism (Angkor Wat)' and 'Bali Hinduism', a Hinduism with Southeast Asian characteristics.
