Liaoshen Campaign——
In 1945, Japan surrendered. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party began to compete for power. In June 1946, a large-scale civil war broke out. In August 1948, the Northeast Field Army had more forces than the Kuomintang army and controlled most of the land and population in the Northeast. However, 550,000 KMT troops were held in Shenyang, Changchun, and Jinzhou. In September of the same year, the Central Military Commission issued an order to launch the Liaoshen Campaign to the Northeast Field Army led by Lin Biao, Luo Ronghuan, and Liu Yalou. With the strategy and tactics of besieging Changchun, attacking Jinzhou, and monitoring the enemy in Shenyang, it lasted for 52 days and annihilated more than 470,000 people from the KMT's total annihilation of Wei Lihuang, Liao Yaoxiang, and Zheng Dongguo. Achieve a comprehensive victory in the Liaoshen Campaign.
Looking at the overall situation, Chiang Kai-shek of the Kuomintang and his Northeast generals had different opinions and delayed the opportunity. Mao Zedong has always advocated attacking Jinzhou first, trapping the Kuomintang army in the Northeast, cutting off the throat of Guannei and Guanwai, and putting it in a situation of isolation and helplessness. Lin Biao originally advocated attacking Changchun first, but after the unsuccessful trial attack, he reached a consensus with Mao Zedong. After Jinzhou was broken, he used a political offensive to make the Changchun defenders rebel and surrender, and the soldiers were not bloody, and the soldiers were not fighting. After a full attack on Shenyang, it was as easy as reaching out for something. The comprehensive victory of the Liaoshen Campaign has boosted the morale of the Northeast Field Army, which has already had millions of troops, and has also become a strong support for the subsequent Huaihai and Pingjin battles.
