In addition to surfing, Muriwai is a popular destination for kitesurfing and paragliding. Muriwai Beach has basic amenities such as toilets, picnic tables, and BBQ areas. #traveldiaries Auckland is not just about city life; its proximity to some of New Zealand’s most stunning beaches is what makes it truly special. I took a drive to the rugged west coast to visit Piha and Muriwai, two of the most famous beaches in the region. Piha is a surfer’s paradise, with its wild waves and iconic Lion Rock standing guard over the black sand beach. It’s also a great spot for hiking, with the nearby tracks offering amazing views of the coastline. Muriwai Beach, known for its dramatic cliffs and resident gannet colony, is another must-see. The sight of hundreds of gannets nesting along the cliffs is an extraordinary wildlife experience, and the coastal views are equally impressive. If you’re lucky, you might even catch sight of dolphins playing in the surf.

If you come to Auckland, the place I recommend the most is Bird Island. Bring some food, water, surfing equipment, you can stay from sunrise to sunset, it's incredibly beautiful. If you like to catch sea, you can also pick up some mussels to come back, natural and pollution-free seafood, but one person cannot exceed 25, you have to watch the tide rise and fall time, safety first

Hiking at Muriwai Gannet Colony in Auckland This is simply one of New Zealand's most beautiful spots. As well as being a paradise for birds, it's super popular with local surfers. The name, Muriwai, comes from the Maori language. Flocks of thousands of gannets come here to roost - it's an impressive sight.

Bird Island, the North Island of New Zealand, is a very famous sunset destination. The reason why it will become a bird island is because thousands of gannets nest in pairs between October and March each year, which is particularly spectacular.  These gannets fly to the mainland of Australia thousands of kilometers away every winter to spend the cold winters of New Zealand, and then fly back to New Zealand's Bird Island every October, where they can build a nest and cultivate the next generation with their partners.  The gannets are arranged on the rocks in a very strange and neat formation. The other side of Bird Island is a black sand beach, but I haven’t walked to the black sand beach yet, and the sun is beginning to slant, which is really beautiful.  Along the stairs, you can descend to the iron ore cliff below, where there are huge waves hitting the reef. This kind of nature's sinister and seductive charm is so fascinating that the sun begins to slant. Before the sun goes down, the blue sky, the golden clouds, the patchwork of stones, I give 101 points for this scene.
