Enjoy skiing at Muju Deokyusan Ski Resort
ㅇ Location
Fortunately, there are Muju/Yangsan in the southern regions such as Gyeongsang and Jeolla. You can enjoy skiing without going all the way to Gangwon. It is divided into two places: Seolcheon Base and Manseon Base. Seolcheon has a gondola that is shared with hikers, so parking is a bit more difficult. There are no very luxurious places to stay around, but there are many places with good value for money. The prices are not expensive for a tourist destination, but the convenience stores in the resort are naturally expensive, so check the Hanaro Mart at the resort intersection beforehand.
ㅇ Slope recommendation
If you are a beginner, let's park near Manseon Base first. If you start with the 3.3 km long beginner slope Seoyeokgihaeng, it is easy for beginners to enjoy skiing. Once you get used to it, try the intermediate slope, Western-Turbo Slope, which shares the same liner lift. If you go to the intermediate slope right away when you first start, it will be a nuisance, but if you can come down Seoyeokgihaeng without any problems, Western Turbo is worth riding. After that, go to Seolcheon Base. You should enjoy the Silk Road slope that opens around the end of January. The fun of skiing increases as you ride the winding 6km slope!!
ㅇ Small tip
When you buy a lift ticket, you should definitely get a card discount. There are many cards that offer 20/25% discounts on weekdays and weekends. Also, rent ski equipment directly from the resort, not the shop. They say it's old, but it's all the same for beginners, and if you get a 50% card discount, it's cheaper than the shops. One more thing, you don't have to carry heavy equipment all the way to the parking lot, so it's free of burden. If you're skiing with children, the place to rent and return the equipment is also very important! However, if you're interested in cool clothes, you should rent from the shop rather than the resort.
If you're staying at a resort, ask if there's a "Soldong" when you check in. Hansol, Dusol, Sesol, and Nesoldong are located along the Seoyeokgihaeng, so you can enter the slopes right from your room! It's also fun to watch your skiing companions from the window. If you're really lucky, you might be able to check in at Soldong.
Have fun skiing~~~
