Mount Logan
Mount Logan is the highest mountain in Canada and the second highest mountain in North America after Denali (in Alaska). Located in Kluane National Park and Preserve, Yukon, Mount Logan has an elevation of approximately 5,959 metres (19,551 ft). The mountain is named after Sir William Edmond Logan, a renowned Canadian geologist. Due to its large massif, Mount Logan has one of the largest mountain bases in the world and several other summits in the vicinity. Climbing to the summit is a major challenge due to the extreme weather and remoteness of the location. Temperatures at the summit can be very cold, even in summer. The first successful expedition to reach the summit of Mount Logan was in 1925 by a group of Canadian and American climbers. The mountain is a major attraction for experienced climbers seeking a serious challenge in a remote and inaccessible mountain range.
