🌿🌸 Brisbane Spring Weekend: River Walks, Blooms & Rooftop Views
#springitinerary
Spring in Brisbane means jacaranda showers, golden-hour river glows, and that perfect "not-too-hot" vibe. Just spent a dreamy weekend soaking it all up—here’s your ultimate laid-back itinerary!
✨ Hidden Gem
Howard Smith Wharves’ Secret Garden – Behind the buzzy bars, find a quiet pocket of poinciana trees and city views. Perfect for sunset drinks without the crowd.
🍴 Must-Try Food
Felons Barrel Hall’s Sunday Session – Woodfired pizzas + local brews by the river. Try the spanner crab pizza with a passionfruit sour in hand!
😂 WTF Moment
Getting "attacked" by a gang of rainbow lorikeets at Roma Street Parkland. One minute I’m zen in the flower field, next minute—squawk—I’m their new jungle gym.
⏳ Weekend Itinerary
📍Day 1: City & Riverside
9 AM: Breakfast at John Mills Himself (their ricotta hotcakes with lemon curd = heaven).
11 AM: Gallery hop at QAGOMA (don’t miss the rooftop installation views).
2 PM: Picnic at South Bank’s Grand Arbour (grab treats from Jan Powers Farmers Market).
5 PM: Sunset kayak on the river (Riverlife does glow-in-the-dark night paddles too!).
📍Day 2: Nature & Neighborhoods
8 AM: Hike Mt Coot-tha (wildflowers in bloom!) + coffee at the summit lookout.
12 PM: Brunch in Paddington (Anouk’s blood orange waffles = iconic).
3 PM: Shop James Street’s spring fashion drops (or just people-watch with gelato from Gusto).
6 PM: Rooftop cocktails at Ella (their lychee martini tastes like spring in a glass).
📍Day 3: Island Escape
Day Trip to North Stradbroke Island (30min ferry):
Whale watching from Point Lookout (spring = migration season!).
Lunch at The Whales Way (fish tacos with ocean views).
Nap on Cylinder Beach’s squeaky-clean sand.
👗 Pack Smart
A breezy dress (for jacaranda picnics).
Swimwear + reef-safe sunscreen (Brisbane sun is sneaky strong).
A foldable tote (for market flower bouquets).
Brisbane’s spring is all about lazy river days and impromptu Aperol spritzes. Where’s your fave Brissy spot?

Heal while looking at beautiful plants at Mt Coot tha Botanical Gardens in Brisbane, Australia 💚 Mt Coot tha Botanical Gardens is a place that is easy to visit with no admission fee. The Botanical Garden grounds are so large that you will have to walk a lot inside, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
I especially liked the Japanese garden in the Botanical Gardens. Sitting in the shade and feeling the cool breeze made me feel peaceful. I also liked the bamboo forest that was brought from China. Also, from the Botanical Gardens observation deck, you can see the Brisbane City view in the distance.
