[Tochigi Prefecture] A spectacular carpet of autumn leaves and an active volcano! Chausu-dake in Nasu
Chausu-dake (officially a part of the Nasu-dake mountain range, 1,915m above sea level, an active volcano) lies in Nasu-machi, Tochigi Prefecture.
It is known as one of the best mountains in Japan for climbing to see autumn leaves,
and the surrounding area of Ubagadaira is as stunningly beautiful as Mount Kurikoma in Miyagi!
At the most popular photo spot, "Hyotan Pond," there was a long line to take pictures of the autumn leaves and reflections...I waited about 20 minutes
Furthermore, the parking lot at Toge no Chaya, which is convenient for mountain climbing, was full at 5:50 a.m.
If you want to be sure to park in this parking lot during the autumn foliage season, you have to arrive by 1 a.m.
If the parking lot at Toge no Chaya is full, there is a free parking lot 2 km down, but there are also few parking lots there, so if it is full, you will have to go further down...Anyway, it is a battle for it during the season
Chausu-dake is actually quite easy to access the summit because of the Nasu-dake Ropeway
However, personally, I recommend climbing as there are many spectacular views that can only be seen by those who climb it

Mt. Chausu-dake peak of Mt. Nasu-dake at a height of 1,915m is located in Nasu town, Tochigi pref, the Kanto region of Japan and known as one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains. It's an active volcano and one of the must-see mountains of the fall foliage in Japan. It's possible to go up and down the mountain on the same day. Otherwise it's very easy to get to the peak by the ropeway if you don't have time or are short on physical strength. Anyway it's super amazing!

Mount Chausu is the highest peak in Aichi Prefecture, at 1,415 meters, and dominates a natural paradise on the border with Nagano Prefecture.
During the autumn season, it is a good time to climb up the mountain because the wind is stable and not cloudy too much. The weather is quite good with a good temperature for mountain climbing.
