A lovely spot to escape the city for a few hours. Walking up from the university area there are lots of trails to choose from, you can head to the summit, to the temples or a number of viewing platforms. This is also the spot where we finally gave up on trying to find a short line for Changsha tea and joined the long lines. Was it worth it? Honestly it was, it's cheap, tasty, creamy, sickly and nutty too. We went in late July and it was ridiculously hot in the mid day heat, so set off up Yuelu Mountain early in the morning and headed down before the sun got too hot. Some of the gates to the top required us to scan codes and show our passport, I'm not certain if it was a requirement, but good to note.

The second, you will spend a lot of time standing in the line and waiting for your turn. So, it is recommended to climb. I said climb, but really it means walk on the ground covered by pavement, there is no stair, a few spots have steps, but mainly this is the road. Vegetation is beautiful, yes, this is true.
