In mid-November, the Japanese government approved the fishing of Echizen crabs. My wife and I had a crab feast in the evening in Tsuruga and stayed at a hotel next to Tsuruga JR station. There was a car rental company nearby, so we booked a small car and drove to the trailhead of Mount Ibuki with my wife in the morning. We began our hiking journey.
Mount Ibuki is not high, but it is one of Japan's 100 famous mountains. It is very suitable for a family outing, with easy mountain trails that can be considered a beginner's route. As there is a road leading up the mountain on the other side, night activities such as watching meteor showers and camping in cars are often held on the mountain.
Early on the mountain, it is a dense forest road, not exposed to the sun. In the middle section, there are fewer trees, and some people are playing paragliding on the mountain. In mid-November, in addition to the red leaves, the mountain is full of long grass, which looks like a flock of sheep from a distance, and the red leaves are very beautiful.
