Holiday Brunch @Avoca
Having brunch with friends on holidays is really a wonderful activity. It would be even more pleasant if there is an unbeatable sea view. Last Sunday, I had a delicious Sunday brunch with my friends.
Having a brunch with an unbeatable sea view is no longer a dream! As long as you go to Mondrian Hong Kong on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, you can enjoy Avoca’s wonderful seafood cocktail brunch! Starting from just $580, you can enjoy unlimited six creative seafood appetizers, oyster duets at your table, a main course of your choice per person, and a dessert platter that is too rich to list.
When you walk to the entrance of the hotel parking lot and see this menu, just walk straight ahead and you will see a dedicated elevator that takes you directly to the restaurant, which is super convenient.
When the elevator door opens, you will see a beautiful bar! The restaurant's décor is very modern and light-filled, making it a perfect place for brunch.
Surprisingly, there was a live DJ to entertain our ears, and the dancing melody made this Sunday Brunch even more wonderful.
The restaurant has a magnificent view of Victoria Harbour! Come here to enjoy delicious food and a glass of wine and forget all your worries.
Of course you have to drink when you come to the innovative cocktail bar Avoca! We paid an additional $200 to upgrade to unlimited designated cocktails, sodas and beers. Normally a cocktail costs over a hundred yuan, but ordering two glasses more than paid for itself. Wine lovers like Shibi joined us, and my friend chose the refreshing Pickled Cucumber Gimlet, which uses gin as a base with sour cucumber juice and a few drops of sesame oil. It is refreshing and has a special aroma of sesame oil.
And I chose this red and orange Italian national drink Aperol Spritz! Herbal liqueur is added to Prosecco and soda water to create this unique aperitif Cheers.
At this moment, the waiter brought us fresh salad. The fresh and crisp salad paired with bi-color cherry tomato and appetizer sauce was delicious.
Then it’s time to taste fresh seasonal oysters! The plump and juicy oysters are creamy and full of flavor. The oysters are even more layered in flavor when paired with cucumber chili sauce and salmon roe.
After eating oysters, let’s try the first three cold appetizers! Peruvian marinated salmon sashimi salad is seasoned with chives, watermelon and roasted peppers. Paired with thinly sliced salmon, it not only has a fresh taste but also a fruity aroma. The salty and sweet taste flows in the mouth and is very satisfying.
Italian fish fillet with salmon roe, French tomato chutney and yuzu soy sauce! The fresh fish slices have a springy texture and a spicy and sour taste with a hint of grapefruit, which is very appetizing.
The secret seafood tartar with grapefruit and daikon radish mousse contains different seafood particles and crispy rice, which has a very rich taste. The sweet daikon radish mousse mixed with caramelized onions instantly becomes fragrant. This dish is very comfortable to eat and the taste is also very tempting.
The other three are fresh and spicy fried appetizers! Of course, you should order another special cocktail to go with it at this moment.
This is the bartender who helps us mix cocktails. The cocktails he makes are very unique. Even if you are not here to dine, you can still come here to enjoy the cocktails.
I ordered a cup of Haam Neng Mung which is very Hong Kong style! The whiskey-based cocktail is also topped with salty lemon, and paired with orange soda, it's very soothing to the throat. The familiar salty and sour taste is so lovely.
First try this pan-fried hand-baked Vietnamese fish cake! The fish cakes are fried until crispy, non-greasy and chewy. They are best enjoyed with cucumber and tomato sauce. If you like, you can dip them in sweet and sour fish sauce to make them even more delicious.
This dish of Spanish spicy boiled mussels with anchovy almond sauce tastes really amazing! The plump mussels were very soft and full of flavor, and the salty and spicy sauce was great with crispy sourdough bread.
Crispy fried seafood with Moroccan spices and lemon mayonnaise! It is also fried crispy and not greasy, and is a great accompaniment to wine. Friends who like fried food should not miss it.
There are six main course options and each one is very attractive! We chose these three to share with you due to our difficulty in making choices.
As a seafood fan, I ordered this Boston Lobster Linguine with Spicy Seafood Sauce (extra $198) without even turning back.
This generous portion of pasta includes half a Boston lobster, topped with cherry tomatoes, chili, parsley and lime zest, and a sauce full of clam flavor.
The roasted lobster is fresh and chewy with great texture. The linguine with tomato and clam flavors is al dente and flavorful. I really like this combination and taste.
My friend loves the fresh taste of clams, so he chose this garlic and white wine clam pasta as the main course!
The big, plump clams are very fresh and sweet, and each one is clean and free of sand! The pasta is a dry version with a little bit of bread crumbs, which has an extraordinary taste. The aroma of garlic and white wine always attracts customers.
Already having two starchy final main courses we decided to order fish! This is pan-fried cod with celery, kale and smoked butter sauce.
The smooth and juicy silver cod is paired with smoked butter sauce to add to the flavor, while the kale plays a chemical role in removing greasiness and adding fragrance. The celery head served as a side dish is also fragrant and delicious, and the salty and fresh salmon roe makes the dish more flavorful.
It was so fun for the three of us to share this delicious happiness.
When it comes to the dessert session, each of us will receive four exquisite desserts!
At the end of the day, of course I had to order one more wonderful cocktail! I chose Calamansi Margarita as Dessert Cocktail.
I also took this cocktail to a secret check-in spot at the hotel! There is an orange bed placed at this position facing the unbeatable sea view, where everyone can take a nap comfortably, check in and take cool photos.
This Tequila-based Margarita has an outstanding citrus aroma, and with the addition of agave nectar and the special seven-spice salt, it is slightly spicy with a hint of sourness and not too sweet, making it a perfect match for desserts.
For dessert we got grapefruit marshmallow tart, classic opera cake, caramel hazelnut profiteroles and mixed berry cheesecake.
The quality of the four dishes is also very good, and my favorite is the caramel hazelnut puff! The puffs are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the fragrant caramel hazelnuts are really sweet and delicious.
The next holiday, I will go to Chill with my dear family and friends to have a Seafood Summer Brunch.
