Authentic Coconut Pot
I saw a lot of people at the restaurant entrance, so I took a number and waited for a seat.
The menu states that there are over 60 branches nationwide, which is quite a number.
🌱 Hainan Spicy Wenchang Chicken Gizzards
While waiting for the original coconut chicken, I ordered the chicken gizzards. They were crispy with a spicy and numbing flavor.
🌱 Original Coconut Chicken
Using an hourglass ⏳ for timing, when the sand runs out, the staff helps to open the lid.
The walls and the vests worn by the staff are printed with 'No water added, 4 coconuts for 1 pot of soup'.
I first tried a bowl of soup, which had a rich and sweet coconut flavor. One bowl was really not enough.
They used Hainan Wenchang chicken, which had a distinct chicken flavor and a firmer texture. Besides eating the chicken pieces as they are, you can also mix the three sauces—sand ginger, chili, and calamansi—for a sweet, sour, and spicy taste, which enhances the flavor.
After drinking a few bowls of coconut soup, we started the hotpot. The staff will help add chicken broth, but if you want to add coconut soup, there is an extra charge.
🌱 Tender Chicken Feather Vegetable
The texture of the chicken feather vegetable is similar to cabbage, crisp and crunchy.
🌱 Zhongshan Crispy Grass Carp Slices
The grass carp slices are thin and translucent. When placed in the pot for a while, the slices curl up, and the texture is firm with a slight crunch.
🌱 Snowflake Beef Short Ribs
The marbling of the beef short ribs is even, the beef flavor is quite strong, and the texture is chewy.
🌱 Coconut Heart-shaped Noodles
When the heart-shaped noodles are placed in the pot, they expand after a while. The noodles have a coconut fragrance, a chewy texture, and a consistency similar to glutinous rice.
🌱 'Intangible Heritage' Fresh Dragon Beard Bamboo Shoots
The fresh dragon beard bamboo shoots are quite juicy, with a crisp texture and a slightly sweet taste.
🌱 Fresh Mountain Mushroom Platter
The platter includes four types of mushrooms. Among them, the fresh porcini mushrooms have a rich and tender flavor, and the matsutake mushrooms are quite smooth.
