This is tempura momiji, one of Japan’s unique dish that originated from Hiroshima. Momiji means maple leaf in Japanese. Tempura momiji is a dish where they use homemade cake-like bun filled with different fillings and fry them with tempura batter. It’s very tasty! This shop is located in Miyajima, a 10 minutes ferry ride from Miyajimaguchi station. It takes around 30 mins bus ride from hiroshima station to miyajimaguchi station. There are lots of things to see and lots of food to try on this island~ Please do lah a visit there ~ It is best to visit during Sakura season where you can enjoy the view and food at the same time ~

Birds View of Miyajima Island
When visiting Miyajima Island in Japan, you have the option to climb up to Mt. Misen to see the whole island from its highest point.
My favourite part of this journey is the breeze you get when you reach the very top. It was by no means a easy walk as paths aren’t properly crafted. On the way up to the peak you’ll see tons of geographical land formations, small temples and even mini statues that some people dress up! It is absolutely adorable!
At the peak of the mountain there is a lookout point where you can enjoy the success of your trek up the mountain. Something cool about being here is that you can see the even smaller island where they grow and harvest oysters. I’ve been told that the way oysters are grown and harvested in Hiroshima is unique as they wait for them to weigh down the wooden planks before harvesting them. Hence ensuring they are fat and juicy for consumption.

Miyajima and deers of God
Miyajima is a small island located in Hiroshima Bay, Japan, and is famous for its floating torii gate, one of Japan's most iconic landmarks and third priest place in all of Japan.
Visiting Miyajima is easy with a regular 15min ferry. Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 6th century is the main attraction. Its iconic torii gate appears to float on the water during high tide, and is accessible on foot during low tide.
There are other landmark attractions but perhaps the second most fascinating thing to see is the wild dear! They are considered a divine animal and roam freely. They purposefully approach visitors in search of food. Be careful though - they will eat everything, including your papers, hair and clothing if you let them!
Miyajima is famous for its oysters, which are considered some of the best in Japan. The island has many street vendors selling local specialties such as momiji manju - maple leaf-shaped cakes filled with sweet bean paste, and "deer poop ice cream". I'd recommend spending at least two hours on the island or longer if you'd like to stay for a meal.

Street of Indulgence (Omotesandō)
This street is located on Miyajima Island, Hiroshima. When in Hiroshima, take the train to Miyajimaguchi station. Transfer to the ferry terminal to take a 10-min boat ride over to the island.
Miyajima is famous for their oysters. The farmers would hang them on floating wooden platforms. And only harvest them once the platform sinks from the weight of the oysters. You can find many different variants of along this street. The ones we tried are the skewers with yuzu sauce and the salted ones straight from the shell.
Besides oysters, they are famous for a maple leaf shaped dessert that’s usually stuffed with a sweet paste (red bean). Ice cream, $1 drink refills, fragrant matcha tea and snacks, sashimi, sushi, and many many more things.
This street will truly feed you till you’re stuffed and satisfied.

Autumn 2019 in Hiroshima, Japan!
It has been a while… reminiscing the wonderful days we spent in Japan’s Hiroshima prefecture 3 years ago in Nov 2019.
From losing our luggage at the start of the trip to the last few days of our stay at Hiroshima Airport Hotel, it was all worth it. It was our first ever autumn experience and it was magical! Started off the trip at Osaka-Kyoto-Nara, and travelled eastward to Himeji-Miyajima-Totori (sand dunes!) then ended off the trip at Hiroshima. I’ll let my photos do the rest of the talking (:
Now that Covid-19 travel and safe management measures in Japan have eased, can’t wait to pack a trip back to the land of the rising sun again! Time to start planning… Japan here we come in 2023 and beyond!

Miyajima
This lovely island is only about 30 minutes train ride from the center city. You can feel some great vibes with this amazing view. The shrine is famous for that you can actually walk through when the ocean is low tide. Also, you could find some deer’s that lives on this island.

Miyajima Island
While still in sakura season, I found myself throwing back to the time when I was in Japan. Visited Miyajima island where there is shrine and temple forest as well as sakura.
The beauty of it is that I was able to capture the moment of sea (at embarkation point) when sun shine so brightly and sunset. It's a great thing that can be seen by the eyes and captured by the camera.
Walking around, I saw the pagoda/temple but didn't go in as I'm not a temple visitor. I also saw the shrine but dare not to go closer. So I was just enjoying the view, sakura and sun while walking around the island. Time really flies, you can spend a day walk around here.

Miyajima
Miyajima is a scenic island which belongs to Hatsukaichi city in Hiroshima prefecture. It can be reached by regular ferry service from Miyajima-guchi pier which takes passengers to the scenic spot on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As you take the first step into the island, you will be welcomed by friendly deer living there. But unlike deer in Nara Park, it is strictly prohibited to feed them. Itsukushima Shrine is an iconic Shinto shrine which was originally established in 1168. It is also widely famous for the floating Torii gate, which refers to the symbolic giant Torii gate standing in the water. The breathtaking scenery created by the contrast of blue ocean and blight red Tori gate attracts tourists from around the world! Don’t forget to try local specialties such as Okonomiyaki and fresh oysters at restaurants!

The long-awaited sea raft from other people's photos is located on Miyajima in the Seto Inland Sea in Hiroshima, Japan. Kansai travels through Kyoto and Osaka, buys train tickets and ferry tickets, and blows the sea breeze to eat a oyster. Miyajima is a good choice.
Disembark from the Miyajima Pier, pay special attention to the small rafts that move around, they will come over and grab the paper on our hands, such as advertising brochures and ticket tickets, and the horns can not beat a few rounds. Let it swallow it up. Later, I saw that the announcement could not take paper in front of you. This is too important!
Miyajima is worth a day to walk slowly, it has several recommended attractions

The most unforgettable trip of 2023
This was my first trip in 2023. Miyajima Island is a small island in Hiroshima. It is known for its giant, orange Great Torii Gate partially submerged in the middle of the sea. Once you get to Miyajima Island, you’ll feel that you don’t wanna leave the island anymore. It is a romantic place, especially when it reaches sunset. What made our trip more special is our stay at a ryokan in the island.
Reasons to Recommend: It is ranked as one of Japan’s Three Best Views

One of Japan most beautiful place !!
Miyajima!! One of the place not to miss in Japan for famous floating red tori gate. Located in west Japan and nearest city is Hiroshima . But adorable to do day trip from Kyoto and Osaka as well , some people even do day trip from Tokyo . For me , I stay in Hiroshima for two nights, so I started my journey from Hiroshima. Pretty straightforward, took JR local line to Miyajimaguchi station ,took 28 mins and cost 240¥, and walk to ferry terminal , about 5 mins and took JR ferry to Miyajima Island , ferry will cost you 180¥ and just 10mins ride . But , if you have JR pass , both train and ferry will cover by the pass . Try to go there early morning to beat the crowd, because all travel and tour agencies started their trip around 9am and reach there 10am .
There are few things to look out in Miyajima island , Itsukushima Shrine , it’s famous for floating red Tori gate , eat fresh oyster , maple leave red bean sweet snacks and try to explore Mount Misen( for those who like to hike like me🤭🤭).See you on the other side of the world !!!

who doesn’t know the infamous red torii floating gate located at Miyajima Island, in Hiroshima Prefectures and it can only be reached by ferry from miyamaguchi sanbashi to miyajima sanbashi. During low tide, we may walk towards the torii gate. it look so small for afar but actually gigantic. Bonus, you may see deer roaming around the Island. but beware, they do bite

On the second day of the four-nation tour, I wore an orthodox witch costume in the early morning. I took a boat from Hiroshima to Miyajima. We started a little late. When we arrived, there were many people. There are cute deer on the island. Take a photo with them, but be careful of the bag in your hand, but it will bite, of course, don't feed it to eat it! In terms of the Yanshima Shrine of Miyajima, the island is still very windy, but the beauty is really beautiful! The staff inside estimated that they were thinking about why they cosplay their overalls. They couldn't understand~[smile] but it was 100% returning... Although I was frozen at night, it was definitely worth it!

Kuka.
Just after a boat trip at the Yandao Pier, I found that "God's Messenger - Deer" has been waiting for a long time. Going south along the coastal ginseng road, two sika deer protect the law for me and other "mortals", and sometimes look around to sniff. The eyes reveal philosophical speculation: "Where do you come from, do you want to go there, do you have any dry food?"
Unlike Nara, Miyajima has a limited area. To prevent excessive breeding of deer, the island prohibits tourists. Feeding. In this case, the deer of Miyajima naturally knows more about survival than the Nara deer. Even if there were only a few pieces of broken biscuits in their hands, the two dear friends still followed me all the way.
Knock on the blackboard, pay attention! If you have paper on your hand (including tickets), be careful not to be bitten by the deer. If you are bitten, you should grab it back as soon as possible. This is to protect God's healthy heart!
