INSTA-WORTHY ICECREAM & BBT STORE 🍨
Most beautifully curated ice-cream. Miyahara is a must come destination in Taichung. It has a main store, ice-cream and bubble tea store.
They have a huge and very interesting varieties of flavours to choose from.
Also, many toppings to choose from. E.g. pineapple cake, cheesecake, etc.
Their biggest serving cost about SGD10-12, which comes with 3 or 4 toppings and can serve up to 2-3pax. Of course, you can additional add on more toppings if you wish.
There is always a queue outside the ice-cream store, but their service is very efficient.
Definitely recommend ice-cream lovers to come try.

MIYAHARA (Most Instagram-worthy store in 台中)
This is a place where you must visit whenever you're in Taichung. This place was recommended to me by a friend. I didn't think of it much at first, but when I stepped into the main store, I was taken away by the impressive interior and layout of the whole place.
It was packed with tourists who came by to shop for local snacks and souvenirs.
There were also some who just came in to take pictures & videos of the place only.
The store has a huge range of varieties, from sun cakes to pineapple cakes to chocolates and even tea leaves/bags. And all of their packaging are definitely on point and worth giving as a souvenir.
All of their staff were professional, helpful, and can converse in basic English. They know their products well.
This place is definitely very instagram-worthy.
It's definitely a place you need to visit, no regrets! 👍

Miyahara at Taichung
Miyahara at Taichung, is famous with their desserts, but you definitely need to try their restaurant which located at 1st floor. For dine in, you need to make a reservation earlier, walked in is subject to availability , luckily there was a slot for us, we was early celebrating Mother’s Day in early May, and there was a Mother’s Day package, so we took that. It is enough for 5 adults.
Foods and service were definitely 4.5/5. A bit of pricy but it is worth.
Definitely recommended to try their restaurant!#taichung #miyahara #foodie #deliciousfood #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer #tripblazers
Confectionery disguises in contemporary books
#createwithtrip
To be honest, I have never see a confectionery and ice cream shop like this before. It was so elegantly designed and culturally significant. Mayahara is so famous till it has became one of the must visit location for tourists in Taichung.
Miyahara is located at no 20 Zhongshan Road, Central District. By looking at the Mandarin name, you might think that it is ophthalmologist shop as the original name suggested.
I was so inspired by the entrepreneur of this confectionery shop in packaging everything in such a beautiful way, presenting it as a book or volume of books. So creative and clever.
For a person like me who often travel lite , I end up buying a full box full of confectionery. Incredible. Not to be mistaken, all biscuits and confectionery tasted delicious.
Definitely a must visit place if you are touring Taichung.

Best to go place for lavish souvenirs!
The exterior of this building - red bricks 🧱 makes it hard for you to miss! And interior of this building is like Harry Potter! High rise ceiling with huge glass display and the shelves..
Furthermore, all their products are nicely wrapped and packed in interesting designs.
They sell Dawn Cakes (pineapple and cheesecakes), specialising in candies, chocolates, cookies and even teas! oh my! If you are a tea lover, highly recommend you to try them out!
Not forgetting! You can purchase icecream just outside the store, but be warned! The queue are usually pretty long…

Miyahara Ophthalmology in Taichung sounds like a hospital, but it is actually a dessert shop, and it is also known as Taiwan's "paradise with gifts."
Why is it called "Miyahara Ophthalmology"
At the time of the Japanese occupation, Miyahara Ophthalmology was an eye hospital opened by Dr. Miyahara Takeo, and after undergoing changes and alterations such as the Taichung Health Center, Now it has become one of the must-see attractions in Taichung!
All kinds of gift boxes are exquisitely enchanted, and the desire to buy home all goes up!
Not only the gift box is exquisite, but also all kinds of snacks, sun cakes and honey are beautiful and bright, which can increase the appetite. So here is a paradise with a gift, buy back to give someone really special! do not! Get your hand!
The 3-4th floor of the store is the "Drunken Moon House" Taiwanese cuisine, offering meals, but only for meals and cannot be visited.
Miyahara the magic of dessert
This shop is considered a landmark of this town. You can queue up to buy ice cream, but the line tends to be very long. Inside the shop, you can take photos and buy other sweets. For those who do not want to wait in line, you can go up to the second floor where there is food, ice cream, and drinks available, but you must order at least 500 TWD per person without having to queue.#Taichung #Taiwan

Miyahara, Ice Cream Store
Just right besides the Miyahara souvenirs shop, there is an ice cream store as well.
There is an extremely long queue here and do expect to wait for at least 15 minutes or more if there is a queue.
There are many ice cream flavours such as tea series, fruits series, alcohol series and etc. There is option of choosing 1-3 scoops per cup and your choice of adding the waffle or sundae option.
We went for 1 scoop each cup with the waffle and we were allowed to choose a side to go along with the ice cream.
The ice creams were delicious and we never regret queuing for it!

Sweet Treats of Miyahara
Miyahara (宫原眼科) was once an ophthalmology clinic back in the day, but now is a popular dessert shop and restaurant (2nd floor) in a refurbished century-old red-brick building.
It is located at 20 Zhongshan Road, Central District, Taichung, and is open daily from 1000-2100. It is around 350 meters 5 minutes walk from Taichung train station.
The building had preserved the original red-brick walls and archway, the interior decor was redesigned like you've stepped into a Harry Potter movie with tall ceilings and brown wooden bookshelves.
It is a retail store that sells chocolate, cookies, and traditional Taiwsanese pastries, including pineapple cake and sun cakes. And not to mention, the Miyahara ice-cream parlour, one of the best in town.
The wait is worth it! We arrived a little before 11am and there were already so many people waiting! You get toppings even if you don't get the waffle, but still get 3 scoops of ice cream.
Switching trades from optical to desserts
#shopandtrip
Miyahara was an ophthalmology clinic turned high end pastry and ice cream shop, which is one of the go-to places for tourists. Even though I am not a fan of touristy places and cakes that are generally more expensive than other places, since the hotel which I am staying in was a stone’s throw away from this place, I decided to have a look and catch up with the hype.
The two storey building had rustic vibes and tastefully decorated. While they have a restaurant on the second floor, it was closed on the day we went.
There were many flavours of ice cream available, and depending on how many scoops of ice cream you had chosen, there would be an in-house pastry that came with every scoop. It was nice to sit at the park by the canal opposite the shop to enjoy the ice cream.
