Trip to Ipoh, Malaysia 🇲🇾
It was a trip to Ipoh, Malaysia with family. We started our day exploring Ipoh Old Town, where colonial-era buildings and vibrant street art tell the story of the city’s history. The murals by Ernest Zacharevic are especially iconic, blending culture and modern artistry. The area is quiet in the early morning ☀️ making it the perfect time to take photos without the crowd 📸 Don’t miss Concubine Lane, where the colorful shophouses 🛍️ and unique cafés ☕️ provide great photo ops.
📍Jalan Bandar Timah, 30000 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
We then ventured to Kellie’s Castle, an unfinished mansion with a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere ✨ Its Moorish architecture and the surrounding greenery make for dramatic photos 📸 We recommend visiting mid-morning when the light is soft but not too harsh, perfect for capturing the castle’s intricate details 😍
📍Batu Gajah, 31000 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
For lunch, we headed to Plan B, a trendy café ☕️ located in a refurbished heritage building. The rustic interiors, exposed brick 🧱 walls, and quirky decorations make it not just a great dining spot 🍽️ but also an Instagrammable one. We would recommend their signature Big Breakfast 🍳 and Aglio Olio 🍝
📍75, Jalan Panglima, 30000 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
We also explored the breathtaking Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple. The temple, located inside a limestone cave, features stalactites, Buddhist sculptures, and a serene garden at the back 😍This place is a must-visit for its unique blend of natural and spiritual beauty 🙌We found that the best time to visit is early afternoon when the light streams into the cave, creating an ethereal glow.
📍Pesiaran Sepakat 3, 31350 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
We also made our way to Mirror Lake, one of the most picturesque spots in Ipoh. Surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, the calm waters create a perfect reflection that is simply magical ✨ We visited around 4 PM for the golden hour light, and the reflections were breathtaking 😍It’s a bit hidden, but well worth the effort to find!
📍Jalan Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah, 31350 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
Lastly, we strolled through the Ipoh Night Market. The colorful stalls and bustling atmosphere offer vibrant street photography opportunities 📸 It’s also a great place to try local delicacies like char kuey teow 🍝 and tau fu fah. We would recommend arriving just before sunset to catch the transition from day to night 🙌
📍Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, 30000 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
This itinerary gave us an unforgettable glimpse into Ipoh’s charm 🫶From stunning murals to tranquil lakes, every corner of this city offers a story waiting to be captured.
